Well, there's hope for Caroline yet (clearly proof that an old bitch dog is indeed capable of learning new tricks)! And bravo to George, for his hand in taming that particular shrew (and for seeing the potential in her to be more "human", and then helping her to fulfil that potential)! Truly a miracle worker, is George Swann (as Jack points out)! ;-D
Love how you subtly draw the parallels between Harry and Caroline, show that they have more in common than either woman would have suspected, or admit to, given their rancorous beginnings--both widowed young, the victims of loveless marriages, having had the misfortune of their sexual initiation being at the hands of husbands who were absolutely selfish beasts in the sack, coming out of that experience emotionally damaged, not being "awakened" to the true joys of such intimacy until a handsome, experienced rogue entered their life and showed them the way... ;-)
Brava to Harry as well, for being the one to extend the olive branch. One can see why Jack loves her so much! :-)
A beautiful and touching story, sweet and romantic (and with Jack and Harry in top form -- take her over his knee, indeed!) ;-)
Loved it! Only you could create an odious character like Caroline, and then turn her around and stir our sympathies for her! Brilliantly done!
