Ah, California!

It's supposed to be in the high 70's to low 80's here today, sunny with a slight breeze.

Just wanted you to know. ;)

ETA: Wow. Just noticed I had California spelled wrong. Made the correction, but I think I need a weekend. A THREE DAY WEEKEND!!!!! Bwahahahahahah!!!!!

You suck :( It's not even going to get above freezing here today.

*shivers*

*does a summery little happy dance*

Actually, we were freezing not all that long ago -- I mean, compared to today's great weather. Lots of frost damage to our subtropical landscaping.

But today is gorgeous. And it's Friday! Wheeeee!!

*sends balmy breezes to warm you*

[identity profile] gelsey.livejournal.com 2007-02-16 06:37 pm (UTC)(link)
*sulks a little under her blanket*

It hasn't gotten above freezing much in days/weeks. The forties are considered warm.

Well, to everyone else but me, who always freezes her ... bum off.

Friday is about the only thing this day has going ... though I was at least in the mood to write just a tad earlier.

Oooh, balmy breezes :)

Being in the mood to write makes the worst weather much more better.

:P

We are getting a Nor'Easter and more snow. *sigh* I am tired of slush, snow, and cold.

Poor baby. But I like your icon. A lot.

*sends you hot chocolate and bunny slippers*

Those are my gnomes and they are currently buried under 3 feet of snow in my front yard along with their mushroom....
I made the icon from the online catalog I got them from:)

*ppppbbbbllltttt*

(Actually that's way too warm for me in February. I like to have an actual winter in my winter. But it would be wonderful in, say, July, as opposed to miserable upper 90s.)

I like to have an actual winter in my winter.

Well, we already had that. Several nights below freezing. My hibiscus plants look awful. But the lilacs will be better for it.

Seriously, we need more rain -- had a little earlier this week, but we're seriously dry so far. It could still rain in March, though -- I've seen it happen.

Oh, and we often have weather like this in July, too. ;)

[identity profile] dharma-slut.livejournal.com 2007-02-16 06:49 pm (UTC)(link)
yes, but we're only supposed to have a couple of days of it. Just long enough to relax, and then we'll all have to put on sweaters again *prods the easterners gloatingly*

Those hills in your ave are GORGEOUS! And I think I've seen that spot- coming north on the 15 from San Diego right about this time a few years ago...

[identity profile] geekmama.livejournal.com 2007-02-16 06:57 pm (UTC)(link)
That was that one year when we got LOTS of rain -- the wildflowers were just CRAZY!! So beautiful.

We're driving up to San Francisco on the 2nd and I'm hoping the hills will be nice and green by then. We do need more rain. But not from the 2nd to the 5th.

I know the warm can't last at this time of year, but I do love it so much. Makes me happy. :)

[identity profile] jenthegypsy.livejournal.com 2007-02-16 07:07 pm (UTC)(link)
Beats the heck out of sleeping on the couch so I can keep getting up to fill the wood stove in order to combat single digit overnight temps and avoid a $10 million electric bill! That settles it - I'm coming to visit (some day - preferably in winter). Enjoy your lovely weather, my dear!

That settles it - I'm coming to visit (some day - preferably in winter).

I'd LOVE to have you stay. That would be so much fun!

I am indeed enjoying it, 'cause it won't last -- back to high 50's low 60's next week, according to my computer's 7-day forcast.

*sends you a hot cafe mocha, cookies, and a down blanket. And Sawyer, to keep you really warm* ;)

[identity profile] jenthegypsy.livejournal.com 2007-02-16 10:51 pm (UTC)(link)
Cafe mocha, cookies and a down blanket big enough to share - and someone to share it with? You are a good friend! Some day we will meet - after all, you were my very first friend at LJ and our lives have some pretty distinctive parallels, don't they?

Just to make you smile, I'm including a link to a couple of pics of Sawyer's alter ego, taken right before he split kindlin', loaded the stove and settled down on the couch with the blanket, beverage and cookies. *yum* And thanks for sending him over!

Oooh, he's a cutie, isn't he? I can almost see him as Jack Shaftoe...

*hugs you tight* Really, if you ever manage to get out her, you have a place to stay. :D

[identity profile] hendercats.livejournal.com 2007-02-16 07:14 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh that's much too warm. Do you want (she asked, being oh so helpful) some of my 3 1/2 inches of frozen-into-a-solid-mass sleet? :P

(pretty icon, BTW)

Oh that's much too warm.

No, it's not. Thanks ever so, but you can keep the... uh... ice. *shivers at the thought*

Of course, the countryside around your place will be green when our hills are brown during the summer.

The icon is a pic of an area not too far from where I live, taken a few years ago when we'd had a LOT of rain. The hills won't be that pretty this year, I'm afraid -- we haven't had much rain at all.

You get a three day weekend, too, don't you? *bounces*

[identity profile] hendercats.livejournal.com 2007-02-16 07:37 pm (UTC)(link)
You get a three day weekend, too, don't you?
Yep. And I had yesterday and Wednesday off because of weather/roads. (hee!)

Gorgeous hills - did you take the pic?

Am at work but goofing off as school's closed for the *third* day this week.

Yay for snow days! That's something we never get.

Gorgeous hills - did you take the pic?

No, found it on the internet after that spring a couple years ago when we had lots and lots of rain (probably an El Nino year). It was taken not too far from where I live, though.

Drive home safely, and have a great weekend!

[identity profile] drk-prncss.livejournal.com 2007-02-16 08:18 pm (UTC)(link)
wOOt! and there is supposed to be a Blizzard in Rapid City tonight. lol! So happy to be home

Mind if I come over tomorrow afternoon? about 1 or 2? if another time would be better, lemme know. :)

Ginger is going to a shower in the afternoon -- won't be home until evening. Are you sure you can't come in the evening, or on Sunday?

Gah! You'll be going home soon, won't you? And back to weather like that. Brrrr.

Hope we can get together. I mean, you're welcome to just come to see me, but Ginger will miss you.

xo

I'm going to be in Ventura this morning. but I can come back. either in the evening, or on Sunday :)

You're welcome to come any time. Ginger and I should be back at about six or so (I'm going to drive her down to OC for the shower), but we should be here most of the day tomorrow. Then Amor and Jon are coming by on their way back from Estrella on Monday -- I'm going to make a nice dinner.

[identity profile] dressagespirit.livejournal.com 2007-02-16 08:34 pm (UTC)(link)
Whoa, do you mean Rapid City, SD? Because I'm about 3 hours south, and we don't have anything like that forecast, although NOAA is infamous for being way wrong. Like the other morning, when it was supposed to be -1 and it was -20.

[identity profile] dressagespirit.livejournal.com 2007-02-16 08:35 pm (UTC)(link)
We're supposed to be in the high 40s, which feels like the 70s or 80s right now. :-) Major meltage is on the way.

Love the userpic - very pretty.

Your pix of the frozen fog were beautiful.

We do get some great displays of wildflowers -- if you come during the right week. *G*

*sends you gourmet hot chocolate and homemade biscotti*

[identity profile] dressagespirit.livejournal.com 2007-02-16 11:00 pm (UTC)(link)
Thanks. If we get a good wet spring, we may have wildflowers in a lot of places that burned last summer. Boy, that hot chocolate and biscotti sounds good. :-)

It's feeling like spring! But we haven't really had our rainy season. So strange, this winter weather.

Not complaining today though - I think I can actually turn the space heater off!

We need rain deserately, but no, I'm not complaining today either. Beautiful weather!! Maybe we'll get our rain in March -- it could happen!

Hey, I just thought I'd introduce myself, after constantly coming back to your "memories" as my jumping-off-point for J/E fic (whee!). Thanks for providing such a good resource for those of us new to the fandom.

I'm in California, too (Berkeley/SF, but grew up in Ventura)...whereabouts are you? :-)

ext_15536: Fuschias by Geek Mama (Default)

[identity profile] geekmama.livejournal.com 2007-02-21 07:19 am (UTC)(link)
I'm in Simi Valley. :D But I love Berkeley and San Francisco -- we'll be up there visiting in a couple of weeks.

So glad you're finding good pirate stories through my memories (and you know about our J/E Recs page, don't you?) -- welcome to the fandom! It's a fun break from RL, isn't it? *G*
