I don't know how accurate it is but the idea of Captain Jack as the girl in the barrel made me laugh a lot! The prettiest leading lady after all! But Barbossa's Parrot? Has this person even seen the movie!
Actually, Mice Age is pretty accurate and this has been rumored for some time on the WDW boards. We first heard about a proposed Jack Sparrow animatronic back sometime early this year. I've known it was coming - just wasn't sure when. It makes sense that they would time it around the opening of the film. But yeah - Mice Age is pretty reputable source when it comes to the theme parks.
I'd heard the rumor about the ride revamp awhile back, but this was the first I'd heard of the premier being in Anaheim again. I'm quite thrilled about that!
True -- we ourselves were extremely upset when they PC'd it. Hopefully they've learned from that, and from the popularity of the movie, which seemed more in keeping with the tone of the original ride.
I was and still am appalled by the PCing efforts. The updates they made most recently worked well, and personally I see no reason to have to do more. What I read worried me a great deal. Just because they can't save Calofornia Adventure without movie themed rides doesn't mean they have to make this one based on the movies.
I saw what they did to the TIKI room, with all that popularity of those characters, and it so F'd it up to the point I cant go into my favorite thing anymore.
I love Jack, but I did not want to see them in the Pirate ride. I liked it being JUST the inspiration.
Maybe I'm just misreading it, but it's in the link you posted:
"Disneyland visitors will find Jack Sparrow has moved in and tweaked the storyline of the 39-year-old ride to align more with the second and third sequels of the blockbuster original movie.

What I'm excited about is the premier -- he says it's going to be in Anaheim. Now if my niece can just get me a ticket...

While I love the movie with all my heart, the ride should be sacrosinct!
They already screwed it up once back when they PC'd it.
