Cause Layah Said

Not sure why we're doing this, but Layah said to, so I am...

1. Grab the nearest book.
2. Open the book to page 23.
3. Find the fifth sentence.
4. Post the text of the sentence in your journal along with these instructions.

OK. Here's the text. From On The Road, by Jack Kerouac...

"Hand me another drink."

Accomplished Stuff yesterday. Had the Stanza towed to be looked at. Made an appointment to have the cat looked at. Wrote some more on my current story. Played with this pretty LJ icon KJ gave me. Watched two good old movies last night: Groundhog Day (one of my top ten faves) and Doc Hollywood (Michael J. Fox, very funny and cute). Went to See's and got candy for Easter Brunch. Went to dinner at Elephant Bar (shrimp...yummy.) This morning I wrote some more, took the cat to the vet (it's either hyper-thyroid, kidney disease, or diabetes that's making her lose weight; will find out next week), make hot oatmeal for Mommy. Now have to go change bed, make out bills, go shopping for the rest of brunch, get car washed, clean patio with Mommy, make Cream Cheese pastries and Dove Rolls and Colored Eggs, and cut up berries, etc. etc. *sigh* And my chapter I'm working on is getting really long: don't know how that will work out, and not much time to find out, today. Oh, well. Better get busy. It's getting late!

Hyper-thyroid... thas what they think made my old cat, Ramona, loose so much weight and get so ravenous all the time, too. It's fixable, if you have the time, energy, and ability to get pills down her twice a day. We didn't, since I was at school and she was my cat and my responsibility, so we had to put her down... >.< I still regret that.

Which cat is it? ^^'

For my fifth-sentence, in Winds of Fate by Mercedes Lackey, I got: "Elspeth had begged but to no avail."

It's Frisky, Mary Jane's old black and white cat. I hope it is fixable, and between my Mom and me we should be able to keep her medicated. She's about 15 or 16 years old though. Getting up there.

I like my fifth line better (tee hee!)

Happy Easter, Gayle.

My elderly kitties are about 18 years old. One is deaf, the other is just senile, but they have managed to hang on. Their arthritis meds come in power form, and we just sprinkle it on top of their food. They might have some nifty form of thyroid meds too.

Boy, I hope so. Giving meds to kitties is the pits. However, one does what must be done. Thanks for the kind thoughts.

Yes, is pretty, no? Firesignwriter gave me the pic, and I put the burgundy shading and the 'Mmmmm...' on it. Thought it was appropriate.
