Two more things...

-- Unknown wire artist tags workplace of [livejournal.com profile] oiseaurobyn -- so cool!

-- [livejournal.com profile] justawench has established [livejournal.com profile] potc_universe, ...for sharing information about all aspects of the POTC universe - from ships and sailing to period dress and slang - for the promotion of historical accuracy. Very much my cup of tea! Her latest post is "...about breeches, trousers, and stockings" -- [livejournal.com profile] justawench says, Being as obsessive as I am about costuming, it hurts my soul when POTC characters "unzip" their "pants.". Argh! I feel her pain. Join! Post! So much fun to research history for the improvement of Pirate!fic.

Wheee! Thanks for the head's up - may have missed it otherwise.

How's the first week of school going for you? Madhouse?

You're welcome!

It was crazy for the last two weeks, but much calmer now. My busiest time is right before school starts, when the staff returns and I have a mountain of paperwork and information to get ready for them. Is it any calmer for you yet? When did you start?

Teachers and IAs came back last week, kids this Tuesday. It's been crazed for weeks and no end in sight - a lot of that is due to shoving more than half the school into trailers now because renovation begins at winter break, but also boss keeps coming up with lists of things - major, pricey things - that have to be bought "by the end of today" *headbash* **predicts there will be no $ left in budget by December**). Glad to hear it's quieting down for you!

I think it's far more hectic for elementary school office managers -- once all the secretaries come back off summer break I have lots of help, and when school starts we have the T.A.'s, the Leadership and Renaissance classes (who can whip out a 3000 piece mailing in a couple of days, bless their souls) and PTSA volunteers, too, to do data input. Still, we're never bored. Always lots to do! Which is why I enjoy it, actually. It's a hoppin' place.

Renovation is such a hassle! We've been going through that too, though it didn't effect the main office this year. Some of the other schools are up to their ears in it, though. Interesting about that budget thing, lol! Good luck with that.

There's some wonderful posts there! I just love that stuff. Glad to have been able to point the way to a fellow history nerd.

Oh, I'm definitely going to check out that community. One of my favorites is when someone goes to a "bar" in Tortuga and gets a drink from the "waitress". Actually, this has nothing to do with PotC, but is along the same lines -- I once was reading a House fic about Greg House when he was a teenager, and he had a CD collection. Hmmm.
