Drabble: 'Mad Hatless' (Jack - G)

The Muse revisited me and I've actually written a drabble, exactly 100 words for the 'Cannon' challenge at blackpearlsails.



~ Mad Hatless ~

“Let them taste the triple guns!”

Some quirk of quivering air and sea brought Jones’ voice faint to Jack’s ears, electrifying his latent poltroon. His brain was suddenly inundated with words that began with the letter ‘D’.

Demolition. Destruction. Devastation.

Dread. Desperation.

Death.

“Hard a-port,” he managed, and noted Lizzie’s roaring echo with approval.

Lizzie.

Pearl.

The Locker.

The Pearl was pulling away, thanks to those favorable winds Gibbs was nattering on about, but the 'D' words were coalescing now, metamorphosing, uniting in a single, unthinkable unutterable lexeme, unfortunately, undeniably, and unquestionably beginning with the letter ‘K’.

Time to go.

TEN YEARS! Holy cats, I can't even believe it. I do still enjoy the pirates, even if I don't write much anymore.
