This probably isn't dial up friendly. There are a lot of pix. I haven't done a personal post in a while, and we've been doing some fun stuff. Niece
gingersnapps moved in with us, along with her cat Daisy. Here are some pix of Jack and Daisy...

And next we have pix of our outing to Hollywood to see Dead Man's Chest...
First we went to Amoeba, a huge music/video store on Sunset.

They have all kinds of music and video selections, even very obscure categories.

You can see the Hollywood sign from out front.

After that, we went a few blocks to Hollywood Blvd. and Highland Ave. and parked at the Kodak Theater, where they hold the Academy Awards now. Parking is easy and safe there, and there's a mall if you have time to browse.

Across the street is the El Capitan.

Here's the PotC marquee a little closer. Cool, eh?

We had a bite of dinner at Hamburger Hamlet, which is a couple of doors down from the theater, and then went to the show. We sat in the balcony, in the front but to the side. There was an organist entertaining us with Disney tunes before the movie started (the pic came out dark, so I lightened it in Photoshop so you can see the details of the piratey skeleton etc.).

After we watched the movie (which was great on the big screen they have, of course) we all got to go down and look at the display of props and costumes from the movie.
This display was in the lobby...

The Locker where the chest was hidden.

A close up of the letter inside...

The Jar of Dirt.

Will and Elizabeth's Wedding Clothes

ETA: Will's costume, detail

Governor Swann's Wedding Suit

ETA: Here's a detail of the Gov's embroidery...

The Ghost Wedding Dress

Will's Piratey Garb

Davy Jones

A Crewman on the Flying Dutchman

And the Dead Man's Chest

We got out of the theater at about 11:30 and it was about 89 degrees still -- it was during that awful July heatwave. We went to the Disney soda fountain next door and had ice cream -- and I bought a replica of Jack's ring...

Then we drove home, where there was no air conditioning (we are completely unused to that kind of heat) so at 1:30 A.M. we all went swimming for an hour or so, until we were cool enough to sleep.
All in all it was a great day: good fun in good company.
And finally, this last Saturday we went on a harbor cruise in San Pedro to see the Black Pearl, which is docked there right now. They're going to be taking it out and doing some filming off the coast.

This is the admiral's home (?) and the grounds were used in the film A Few Good Men

Here's a buoy with some freeloaders...

The Terminal Island Bridge

Cranes! And ships! When
elisali grows up, she's going to be a crane operator.

And finally, a couple of the sailing boats they use for training kids.

In two weeks: Disneyland, to see more props from the movie, which are on display at the Gallery over the Pirates of the Caribbean ride, where
gingersnapps works. *bounces*
