This probably isn't dial up friendly. There are a lot of pix. I haven't done a personal post in a while, and we've been doing some fun stuff. Niece [livejournal.com profile] gingersnapps moved in with us, along with her cat Daisy. Here are some pix of Jack and Daisy...

And next we have pix of our outing to Hollywood to see Dead Man's Chest...

First we went to Amoeba, a huge music/video store on Sunset.

They have all kinds of music and video selections, even very obscure categories.

You can see the Hollywood sign from out front.

After that, we went a few blocks to Hollywood Blvd. and Highland Ave. and parked at the Kodak Theater, where they hold the Academy Awards now. Parking is easy and safe there, and there's a mall if you have time to browse.

Across the street is the El Capitan.

Here's the PotC marquee a little closer. Cool, eh?

We had a bite of dinner at Hamburger Hamlet, which is a couple of doors down from the theater, and then went to the show. We sat in the balcony, in the front but to the side. There was an organist entertaining us with Disney tunes before the movie started (the pic came out dark, so I lightened it in Photoshop so you can see the details of the piratey skeleton etc.).

After we watched the movie (which was great on the big screen they have, of course) we all got to go down and look at the display of props and costumes from the movie.

This display was in the lobby...

We got out of the theater at about 11:30 and it was about 89 degrees still -- it was during that awful July heatwave. We went to the Disney soda fountain next door and had ice cream -- and I bought a replica of Jack's ring...

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Then we drove home, where there was no air conditioning (we are completely unused to that kind of heat) so at 1:30 A.M. we all went swimming for an hour or so, until we were cool enough to sleep.

All in all it was a great day: good fun in good company.

And finally, this last Saturday we went on a harbor cruise in San Pedro to see the Black Pearl, which is docked there right now. They're going to be taking it out and doing some filming off the coast.

I wonder what they are going to do with the Pearl once they've finished with it?
Wouldn't it be cool if someone bought it?

I hope they'll put in on display somewhere. I know we would've paid good money to actually be able to board her. Heck, we payed $12 a pop just to pass fairly close by her!

True or false: Captain Jack would go for the Doctor before Rose. (My sister thinks the Doctor has a better chance. I think it's whomever is available and willing on a given afternoon.)

Awesome pics! I feel like I was visiting along with ya'll. So awesome that you got to see the Pearl like that - would have sent little shivers up and down my spine had I been so lucky. And sweetness, thy name is sleeping Jack and Daisy! Thanks for sharing. ;-)

See, if I had the money, I would buy it and then live in it. And dress up like a pirate. And let people come and stay with me. So they can dress up like pirates, too.

That would be fun. They should totally do a bed and breakfast - I'd love to stay in the captain's cabin (provided they outfitted it with appropriate luxury).

So happy you enjoyed the picspam! It was great seeing the Pearl, and the rest of the day was really fun, too. A nice long breakfast at a coffee shop across from Ports o' Call Village (where we caught the tour boat), then window shopping and ice cream after the tour. Then home for swimming etc., and a big birthday/swim party yesterday. A great weekend.

Thanks for sharing! I really liked the categories at Amoeba! It is the "Smut" with "Nunsploitation." LOL

I have one of the Pearl pix as my new desktop. *G* Gorgeous.

Yes! PUPPY! He's too cute. Yesterday we had four guest dogs at our swim/birthday bash for [livejournal.com profile] ladymora and, though all were mild mannered, occasionally they'd all get up and zoom around the yard in a pack. So funny and cute!

Great, aren't they? And that pic of the ground floor doesn't include the huge adjoining area that has classical and jazz, or the upper floor with videos and dvd's. It's an amazing place.

Glad you enjoyed the pix!

I love that the Amoeba had a "Nunsploitation" category cause those movies rock. lolol.

Love the pics and thanks for sharing darling. I loved the costumes, so much work and most of the detail never shows up on the screen.

I should totally post a bigger pic of some of the detail of Swann's outfit -- the embroidery is so beautiful!, and you can even see the texture of the materials.

Glad you enjoyed!!
