And Keith Richards is confirmed to be reprising his role as Teague.
Whoot!
Oh dear God, could Johnny Depp really make us love him any more than we already do?! After his Captain Jack Sparrow primary school visit, barely ten days ago, we didn't think it was possible. Only now he's gone and done something just as kind-hearted...
With the British weather taking a turn for the worse this last week, the cast and crew currently working on the Pirates Of The Caribbean: On Stranger Tides in Greenwich have been gnashing their teeth against the cold and the rain.
On seeing their plight, 47-year-old Johnny Depp apparently dipped his hand into his own pocket and coughed up £40,000 on new coats to keep everyone warm and dry whilst they were at work. The actor reportedly bought 500 waterproof jackets, priced at £80 each, when the cold snap struck.
"Johnny paid out of his own pocket for all 500 of us to have a nice warm waterproof," an insider told The Sun, "It's a great morale boost and another example of why he is one of the nicest people in Hollywood."
One of the nicest men in Hollywood? Why yes, he is. *sigh* Just what has he got up his piratey sleeve next though? If it involves saving puppies and kittens then that's it, we'll be at the front of the queue banging down his door...

Too much fun!!

From The Telegraph.co.uk...
Nine-year-old Beatrice Delap did just that by writing to Captain Jack Sparrow, star of the Pirates of the Caribbean films. "We are a bunch of budding young pirates. Normally we're a right handful but we're having trouble mutinying against the teachers. We'd love it if you could come and help," she wrote.
To the astonishment of staff at Meridian primary school in Greenwich, south-east London, Captain Jack arrived in the form of Johnny Depp, the actor who plays him. Depp is filming the latest Pirates of the Caribbean instalment at the nearby Old Royal Naval College.
( More under the cut, with a YouTube video, and lots of Captain Jack pics from the day before... )

Jul. 11th, 2010 12:08 pmI'm falling behind on posting pirate pix here, which is not an acceptable state of affairs.
The first one below is from yesterday, from a blog by a Hawaiian resident, which has links to a much larger version of the pic. Also I ran across another blog that shows a pic of the PotC themed rooms at Disney World's Caribbean Beach Resort -- looks fun!
Filming on July 10th...

( The rest, which you've probably seen elsewhere by now, are in here... )
It's great to see Gibbs as well as Captain Jack! Yay Pirates!!

Really spamming the flist today, lol! It's been a busy couple of weeks.
On August 8th, I posted some pictures of Johnny Depp and family that had found themselves on the internet via a new book of photographs I Missed You by Francois Banier. Apparently there are more pix of his children in the book -- those under the cut were posted today at
depp_daily (source: gallery.vanessaparadispix.com), but I thought I'd post them here, in case any of you missed them there.
( So cute!! )

Also, here is the UK trailer for The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus -- I wish there was a U.S. release date for this, but no dice. It looks fabulous -- but I've been a fan of Terry Gilliam's work for a long time.

Lots of posts at
depp_daily lately, including mine, this one (greeting the fans back east) and this one (with PotC Easter Egg Coloring Kit scans, LOL!), and one posted a while ago by
totally_tinus with 100 pix -- not dial-up friendly, but worth waiting for. :)

Feb. 26th, 2008 10:07 pm1) Watched Napoleon Dynamite FINALLY, this evening. I really liked it, much to
gingersnapps dismay. Guess you had to be there. Made the icon for
weemonkey6 -- it's her favorite quote.

2) I like Daniel Day Lewis, but Johnny should have won. There's a cute article under the picture at right...
Speaking of JD,
depp_daily has had so many amazing and amusing picspams this week -- certainly brightens my day!
3) We've had a spectacular number of wonderful drabbles posted to Black Pearl Sails (the Yahoo Group) and
blackpearlsails this week for the 'Inch' theme! Many thanks to all who participated! A new drabble challenge will be posted tomorrow.
Good Night, All!

As most everyone now knows, Johnny Depp's little 7 year old girl, Lily Rose, was hospitalized for the last week or more with a "serious" malady. Various sources now say she's better and out of the hospital. No official word has come out regarding the nature of the illness, although this is being reported in many of the news stories (in this exact wording)...
A source told In Touch magazine: "After the wound was left untreated, blood poisoning developed. It has now spread through her body and has affected her vital organs."
Now I'm wondering two things: 1) How reliable is In Touch magazine in reporting news? From its website, it looks to be a tabloid and a publication I wouldn't trust for accurate information; and 2) Why has this anonymous source worded it in that particular way? It implies negligence on the part of her parents and other caregivers, which was probably not at all the case. Sounds like this source might have had an axe to grind.
Sort of suspicious, I think.

ETA: Forgot to add this open letter to Johnny Depp on behalf of all guys which brightened my morning, though I can't remember who drew my attention to it. In fact, the whole Bilgemunky website is very nicely done and full of interesting piratey information.
That's all for now. Time for a Mai Tai and some cooking of dinner. And writing? Webpage? Both? If I can stay awake. Also rented Nanny McPhee, so watching of TV will occur at some point.
It's getting cool. Summer's fading.
