1) Watched Napoleon Dynamite FINALLY, this evening. I really liked it, much to [livejournal.com profile] gingersnapps dismay. Guess you had to be there. Made the icon for [livejournal.com profile] weemonkey6 -- it's her favorite quote.
J and V
2) I like Daniel Day Lewis, but Johnny should have won. There's a cute article under the picture at right...

Speaking of JD, [livejournal.com profile] depp_daily has had so many amazing and amusing picspams this week -- certainly brightens my day!

3) We've had a spectacular number of wonderful drabbles posted to Black Pearl Sails (the Yahoo Group) and [livejournal.com profile] blackpearlsails this week for the 'Inch' theme! Many thanks to all who participated! A new drabble challenge will be posted tomorrow.

Good Night, All!

It seemed to me they had that sort of relationship, and it was fun to see it confirmed by an eyewitness. They are so cute together.

OT: Hope the quake didn't do too much damage over there. Scary stuff, that.

Awww. (And there I go with the girlie noise.) That's really sweet.

**snorts coffee** OMG, Geekmama, your icon! :D (Yeah, it's a good movie.)

It was a cute article. Made me go "Awwww", too. ;)

So happy you like the icon! I was pleased at the way it turned out. I think [livejournal.com profile] weemonkey6 will like it a lot. *g*

I LOVE Napoleon Dynamite! It's always getting quoted in my house :P.

LOL! That's another of [livejournal.com profile] weemonkey6's favorite lines. She does a really funny imitation of Napoleon, and there are various references (like "Vote for Pedro") that have seeped into the collective consciousness, so I had to see what it was all about.

Awwwww that article! I totally agree; I think Johnny and V are just adorably adorable together, no apologies. I don't happen to find the Pitt camp anywhere near as inspiring. Mostly I just wish they'd go away for a while.

Napoleon Dynamite is honestly one of the best movies ever made. The first time I watched it I wasn't sure what to make of it at all (actually I think my reaction was right along the lines of ".....What the hell is this? How could somebody have, have filmed -- written -- this piece of crap! Wtf! I want an hour and a half of my life back!!") but after subsequent watchings, it's only gotten funnier, and funnier, and funnier. My brother and I trade quotes from it back and forth all the time -- and a few years ago he made a Napoleon Dynamite costume, and looked freakishly similar. It was awesome.

Yay that movie.

As for [livejournal.com profile] blackpearlsails, I need to buck up my courage and write something to post there already.

J and V are just too cute, which is lovely to see.

I think I do need to watch ND again. I missed a little of it -- was tired and fell asleep briefly -- and I loved the happy ending! And all the characters are very likable.

Yes! Drabble for us! *bounces*

Oh, that article made me go awwwwwww. :) Thanks for sharing it. I was a little disappointed I didn't get to see any red carpet interviews with him.

My flist has been absolutely flooded with Inch drabbles! I think it's awesome! The drabble challenge thing is a great idea. I would participate myself if I could just get my brain working. My muse has been on hiatus.

You're welcome -- that article is too sweet. Made me smile, and it's always good to pass that on.

We've had some really wonderful drabbles this week. Maybe the next theme will inspire your Muse!

Lovely article, lovely pics. I'm going to join the chorus and go all "awww" over the cuteness of J & V together.

J was cute in Oscars, anyway. I happened to turn my TV on just when the winner nominees for the best actor were announced -- I don't doubt anymore what I've heard, that he ain't too keen on publicity... *g*

*Needs Johnny icons. Needs more icon space...*

He didn't look too unhappy that night, but sometimes he looks downright miserable at these things. I think he tries not to show it, but his face and body are so expressive, you can't help but notice.

Oh yeah -- he doesn't have these "look at me, I'm teh BIG STAR and you puny mortals should be kissing my feet" gestures at all. To me, he looked almost embarrassed and shy when the announcer read his name and all the cameras zoomed on him...

He looks like he'd rather be practically anywhere else! Although I think V.'s presence has a soothing effect -- she seems very strong and self-contained.

Heheh -- my thoughts exactly. Somehow it seems to me (what little I've seen them in media) she's the stabilizing force in that relationship :)

I've only heard about Napoleon Dynamite in passing at some point (had to check IMDB to see what it was), but it sounds from your post like it's quite well-known?

And the article was sweet. It's nice to hear about people who have that kind of relationship :-)

Napoleon Dynamite is sort of a cult classic, and its catch-phrases are particularly popular among teens and twenty-somethings. It's kind of a weird movie, clever, slow in spots, but such a pointed parody of American life that it becomes rather hilarious. The Wikipedia article gives a lot of interesting info on it.

Glad you enjoyed the little JD article. :)

What a cute article! It exactly describes their dynamic and the effect they have on people, who are watching them.^^ I also think that she gives him strength to survive those boring ordeals. So sweet! I *heart* those two a lot!

Still translating this article. Did it have to be that long?^^

I really should watch Napoleon Dynamite! Everyone tells me how funny it is.

I also think that she gives him strength to survive those boring ordeals.

Boring, but nerve-wracking, too, I think. He's a really intelligent man, but you can tell from his writing, and acting, and from some of his interviews, not really from his live appearances. I have a feeling we'll never see him on stage in a play. Which is part of his charm -- a lot of people can relate to that reluctance to get up in front of a crowd and be the center of attention.

Re: Napoleon Dynamite -- I liked it, but my niece, who is in her 30's and is a very intelligent woman, did not, so your mileage may vary.
