Disneyland and Alaska

Went to Disneyland yesterday with gingersnapps and a great time was had by all. Little traffic on the 5 getting down there, for a change, and the Magic Kingdom itself was very uncrowded, especially considering it's summer. Didn't get there tilll about 2:30 but we got on the Matterhorn (still bumpy, and fun, and the monster totally scared me because I had my sunglasses on and couldn't see it till it roared), Thunder Mountain, Pirates (the pirate no longer shoots the flowerpot in the well-dunking scene! Aaaaargh! When did they change that?? I put it in my freaking story, for heavens sake!), the Tarzan Tree House (not as good as the Swiss Family Robinson Tree House), Indiana Jones (I got to drive--whoohoo!), Haunted Mansion, the Monorail (at night: pretty lights), and Winnie the Pooh (yay, heffalumps and woozles). Also had perfect seats for the new fireworks show and Fantasmic (which is still the BEST!!), ate at the Blue Bayou (excellent repast, great service), had bacon-wrapped asparagus and the new whitefish skewer from Bengal BBQ while waiting for Fantasmic, and bought a beautiful Peter Pan mug (I have loved Peter all my life). Sacked out at gingersnapps cute apartment, met her talkative cat, Daisy, slept like a log and got up to go have breakfast at Knott's (mmmmm...biscuits and cherry rhubarb!) before driving home (again, little traffic).

Now have one day left to pack for Alaskan cruise. ::Yay Cruising!!:: cacophony is going to housesit and came over today to get detailed instructions.

that sounds like a wonderful little Disneyland trip! I have a thought, and actually, I've had it before and I'm thinking it should be expanded. My friend Mika said to me that her mom loves disneyland, and I know my mom absolutely adores it, and so I had thought that maybe next year for Mother's day, we should 'take' our mothers to Disneyland! (we're both relatively poor, so I don't know if either of us could actually afford to pay, but the point is to go with them)... maybe Mo and yourself should join us in a sort of mother-daughter Disneyland trip? I don't even know how feasible it is, but heck, it's an idea. :)

but your description of your trip reminds me of when my family goes and what I write down in my journals. have a wonderful cruise!

Disneyland on Mother's Day is lots of fun--we did that once, a long time ago. Don't know how feasible it would be for me, as I wouldn't want to leave my Mom alone on Mother's Day. She'll be 89 in August, and still enjoys Disneyland, but prefers Las Vegas, I think. Since she's the elder Mom I think she should get her preference.

well, it doesn't have to be *on* mother's day, it's simply on the occaision of mother's day. certainly your mom should get precedence! and probably my grandmothers will take precedence as well. just an idea, in any case!

Does your Grandmother live in So. Cal. too?

I think it would be great if we could all go together. My niece, and a couple of friends of our work there, and might be able to sign you all in one day--saves a lot of money that way. Christmas is a fun time to go too.
