Wow! Thank you for commenting here, too, and at such length! The formatting with the graphics took a while last night -- I tried doing it in Semagic, and using the Rich Text option, but the code was such a freaking mess I just gave up and did the raw code instead.
I love the Christmas tree and the way you've utilized the multinational/melting pot character of the Cove.
That "multinational/melting pot" thing was my first thought on seeing that prompt. Although England's Cromwell was really down on Christmas, as were Puritans in general, I guess, the Cove was bound to have representatives from all kinds of countries where that wouldn't be the case at all. I couldn't find a lot of specific information about Christmas/Winter Celebrations in other countries during that time period, though. The history of the Christmas tree is fairly well documented, and, as I said, that was originally going to be the focus of a single story for you. But ultimately it seemed like more fun to do drabbles using all kinds of holiday prompts -- and I thought it would be faster, too, though I'm not sure it actually was, and at over 2,000 words it certainly ended up being as long as a one-shot story would have been.
I'm thrilled you've enjoyed it so much. Kudos to you for supplying such a great prompt!
