150 words for the 'Fall' prompt...

~ Unwise ~

There are other blokes in the next cell, so wearing the mask is a necessity. Lounging, hat tipped forward. Jack's all too familiar with lock-ups. He can be a patient man at need, but damnation he hates being detained, and for a chit of a girl at that.

Chit of a girl.

Who d'you think you're fooling, mate?

The governor's daughter, he’d known that going in, those lobsters having said as much, but there hadn't been time for more. When he'd seen her there on the seabed, the thought had flashed, Beauty's self she is… and then, waking... protesting… defending! Lord, how he'd enjoyed the feel of her, slender and quivering with rage at his effrontery in chaining her.

Jack shifts, easing himself a trifle, and frowns.

It won't do.

Unless Lady Luck conspires in his favor.

Stranger things have happened.

And Jack can be a patient man, at need.

Oh, so very lovely. I love Jack's thoughts - perfectly in character!

The thought of the guards as lobsters had me chuckling, I must admit.

When he'd seen her there on the seabed, the thought had flashed, Beauty's self she is… and then, waking... protesting… defending!

Beautiful! :)

Love this! Especially the necessity of him donning the laidback mask in front of the other prisoners. Perfect interpretation of Jack during that scene.

You captured Jack well here. (No pun intended!) Though now you have me wondering how things would've gone if the governor's daughter had been a homely girl....

Yeah, I'll bet Jack was thinking this way- even locked in a cell, scheduled to hang on the morrow! The man's optimism is indestructible.

Good question, though it was the way she reacted to the situation once everyone else showed up that caught him.

Thank you for reading and commenting! I'm glad Jack seemed in character here.

The man's optimism is indestructible.

That's the best thing about him, really, the thing we all find inspirational.

I suspect Jack was both drawn to Lizzie from the start, and saw her for what she was

Thank you so much for reading and commenting!

I always find it funny that once he's alone he starts trying to lure the dog over, and pick the lock with a bone.

So glad you enjoyed! Thank you for commenting!!

Thank you!

The thought of the guards as lobsters had me chuckling, I must admit.

It is a funny nickname, but one of the standard ones for Royal Marines - here's a discussion at the Sailing Navies Forum - at least when they wore red coats.

A perfect drabble. I loved the idea that he was already weighing his chances with Lizzie. And her "quivering with rage"--it almost turned ME on!

:-D

Oh, yes, the effect he and Lizzie had on one another was immediate, and pronounced, wasn't it? And even the mere memory of it has the power to ...er... move him. ;-)

Totally loved this! Glad to see Jack's POV on that fateful first meeting!

And Jack can be a patient man, at need.

Well, with Elizabeth, he's sure going to need that patience (and how)! Little does he know what's in store for him ... ;-)

Utterly delightful drabble (and-a-half)! A perfectly wonderful callback to the jail cell scene! Your depiction of Jack here is just so spot-on, with his practised mask of nonchalance, but the brain never idle! This one had me grinning from ear to ear! :-)

"those lobsters" love laughing over this bit!

"Jack shifts, easing himself a trifle, and frowns" Boy oh boy, he runs on heavy fuel he does!

"Stranger things have happened." Love how his voice is in my head becos of this charming story. I so love how gentle he can be when he's getting wound up! And I absolutely adore his face when he turns, grins and turns away. A patient man...would totally be a stranger thing...so enjoyable.

Stranger things have happened indeed, particularly if you're Jack Sparrow :-)

Wonderful rendition of one of my favorite images from CotBP - Jack and that sinful smirk, the tipped hat, the gleam of his gold.

*sigh*

Loved this, loved that last line ♥

If ever two Royal Marines were worthy of the the epithet! But they're courageous and loyal, if not the sharpest knives in the block.

Jack's certainly learned that patience pays off. How we all adore the Jack we see in CotBP because of his patience and optimism, his humor and determination. He was truly inspirational for so many of us.

I'm very glad this pleased you! Thank you for reading and commenting.

My.

This is excellent! Dear, I love his train of thought - the wording as accurate and spot-on as always. Paints a wonderful picture. I can just see him smirk that devilish, wolf-like smirk of his - waiting, giving the fate time to unfold.

Love. *shakes head* that's all I can say: love. this piece. *favourites*
