There hasn't been much written about Angelica yet, but
pearlseed wrote a lovely drabble, Spirit, about Angelica's first meeting with Jack, when the two were both younger and less wary than they are likely to be in On Stranger Tides (from what we hear, at least).
This one is for the "harm" prompt at
blackpearlsails. Exactly 100 words, with thanks to
hereswith for looking it over.
pearlseed's drabble is from Angelica's pov, and this one is from Jack's...
~ Angelica ~
She’d been named from a sense of irony, no doubt. Blackbeard’s daughter. There was some risk in it, to be sure. But moth. Flame. It seemed inevitable.
She was younger than he liked, of course. Barely more than a girl. But that sharp wit, that flashing smile, those great dark eyes… and that odd air of innocence, in spite of who she was. Every bit as practiced as his own.
What was a poor little pirate to do?
Teasing, titillating banter?
Shy, sweet kisses in the palmy shadows?
Slow, scintillating seduction?
Lord, she was Blackbeard’s daughter. Where was the harm?

Tee heee! *grin*
Interesting. I wonder what the age difference between them is. Privately, I see OST-Angelica as thirty-something. I think it won't be Jack/Elizabeth-like relation this time, definitely.

Date: 2011-02-20 07:18 pm (UTC)Something, anything will be inevitable, or at least very hard to not-telling, in the story. If there's Barbossa and others, their presence will just have to be explained somehow. The question is, how precise will it be, in years. But on the other hand... I don't know if I want to learn it. Somehow it is, the more we get about Jack, the less room for imagination remains. For example, privately I'm not Teague's great enthusiast. He's an interesting creation, but... fics were more diverse and unlimited when we didn't know him yet. And I like that unbound invention in the fandom.
There will be dancing! Whoot!
Yay! One of the moments for which I can hardly wait!
*sweeps the hat* Glad to bring the happiness. :)

Oooh, I looved those lines. Very nice! This makes me even more super excited for the next film. I cannot WAIT to see Jack's reactions and inner-turmoil regarding Angelica. And who is she? Is she a temporary re-kindled flame? Is she The One? So excited to see these two play together.
Wonderful drabble and fun glimpse into their past. :)

Date: 2011-02-20 08:38 pm (UTC)Me too, and like you I'm full of questions, though I don't think she'll be The One, they're not writing Jack like that (and really it's better for fanfic if they're not). I'll just be happy if there's any authentic caring at all between the two.
Thank you so much for commenting -- I'm glad you liked it!

Date: 2011-02-20 08:47 pm (UTC)They are promoting OST as a "return" to the fun of the first movie, but a big big part of our enjoyment of CotBP stemmed from Elizabeth and Will's characters, and Norrington's (though I only really appreciated him when I started reading other folks' fanfic). Not sure the new characters in OST will have that kind of attraction for us.
But one can't complain too much, just seeing another couple of hours of CJS will be worth the price of admission. ;)

Date: 2011-02-20 09:22 pm (UTC)Speaking about new characters, I cherish great hopes for Syrena and Philip. Maybe they'll fill in the lack, at least a bit. I'm also very curious of Scram character. All in all, I hope OST can bring much of that kind of attraction. :) I hope also that OST bring more inspiring than fan-writers-putting-off elements. For example, seems to me that Scruffington was a quite inspiring novelty for the fandom, even if after CotBP, wasn't he? That was when I
fell in loveappreciated him.just seeing another couple of hours of CJS will be worth the price of admission. ;)
So true! ;D

And this:

Delightful and perfect!
You make me anxious for May. 'Twill be fun, even though I've decided everything but CotBP is AU. ;)

"...some risk...the harm?" I very much adore this equation...that's Jack, young old or inbetween! Jack indeed.
You done well, so very very hot this is. Ta for the nod you generous piratista--I didn't see that reference at first.--When there's a good read...well, following my nose works best for me!
