[livejournal.com profile] ladymora has posted the lyrics to a couple of very entertaining pirate songs. Read and enjoy!

And just to add to the fun, the lyrics to The Pirates Who Don't Do Anything are under the cut.

"The Pirates Who Don't Do Anything"

We are the pirates who don’t do anything
We just stay at home and lie around
And if you ask us to do anything
We'll just tell you we don’t do anything

Well, I’ve never been to Greenland
And I've never been to Denver
And I’ve never buried treasure in St. Louie or St. Paul
And I’ve never been to Moscow
And I’ve never been to Tampa
And I’ve never been to Boston in the fall

We're the pirates who don’t do anything
We just stay at home and lie around
And if you ask us to do anything
We'll just tell you we don’t do anything

And I’ve never hoist the mainstay
And I’ve never swabbed the poop deck
And I’ve never veer to starboard
'Cause I never sail at all
And I’ve never walked the gangplank
And I’ve never owned a parrot
And I’ve never been to Boston in the fall

'Cause were the pirates who don’t do anything
We just stay at home and lie around
And if you ask us to do anything
We'll just tell you we don’t do anything

Well I've never plucked a rooster
And I'm not too good at ping pong
And I’ve never thrown my mashed potatoes
Up against the wall
And I’ve never kissed a chipmunk
And I’ve never gotten head lice
And I’ve never been to Boston in the fall

'Cause we're the pirates who don’t do anything
We just stay at home and lie around
And if you ask us to do anything
We'll just tell you we don’t do anything

And I’ve never licked a spark plug
And I’ve never sniffed a stinkbug
And I’ve never painted daises
On a big red rubber ball
And I’ve never bathed in yogurt
And I don’t look good in leggings
And we’ve never been to Boston in the fall!

It's also beloved of bigger kids--since I've worked at the high school it's been used twice in big, elaborate assemblies for the kids--the last time was an awards assembly with a PotC theme and all the science teachers dressed up as pirates and sang it. Hilarious!

Seems I'm always showing my ignorance here, and this time is no exception - where did this delightful ditty come from?

It's from the 'Veggie Tales' kids show--I've never seen the original performance myself as my kids were older when it first aired, but apparently it's quite hilarious.

You-hoo, left coast! I just posted a LJ entry - started as a return comment to you, but grew too large. Blame it on the rum. Anyway, it's over on my journal pages - I hope. Never can tell when I'm the one doing the postin'! Ta!

We've all been fans of PWDDA here in the Telcontar-Longshanks household, since the very first release of Very Silly Songs on video.

Often, Estel and I will turn to each other, in the midst of Grocery shopping or some such, and hoist the extra-enormous family size tub of fermented dairy product, and seriously intone: I've never bathed in yogurt, to which the only possible response is, of course, I don't look good in leggings.

We try to take at least one day, every month, and write PWDDA on the calendar, to ensure we have at least a little break from the hectichectichectic.

I need a Larry the Cucumber icon. Except, the caption... would probably be rather offensive, at least to the producers of Veggie Tales.

Yes, it's kind of you to spare them that. *G*

My kids were older when 'Veggie Tales' came into existence. It seems we really missed out on that one.
