Went to Disneyland today with [livejournal.com profile] gingersnapps and admired the Halloween decorations. Here's a holiday picspam from the Magic Kingdom.

California Adventure! Note the candy corn A's. :D

It's too bad one can't take pix inside the ride -- it's so well done, really transforms the original ride quite completely.

Went over to the new Port Royal pirate store -- pirate swag in abundance there and at Pieces of Eight, which is the next store over.

These bottles were hanging from the ceiling inside the store -- pretty!

[livejournal.com profile] gingersnapps ran out of room on her camera after that, so no more pix. We went and had lunch at the Blue Bayou (the Trio of Creme Brulee is great!), then went on the Pirates ride, admired the Jack Sparrow walk-around (as did a long line of females waiting to have their picture taken with him), then bought coconut cashew brittle and made our departure. A lovely fall day!

You know, I love your pic spams of Disneyland. Especially in this post of the big pumpkin Mickey and Goofy entrances. Those were so neat.

And, umm, randomness, but it seemed like some of the pumpkins were carved and others were just black markered. Am I just seeing things? ...Does it even matter?

Glad you enjoyed! The pumpkins are all carved -- except for the hanging lanterns at Woody's Halloween Roundup, of course. They light up at night -- we saw them as we were leaving (7 P.M. or so, and getting dark by then).

Wonderful pictures! Thank you for sharing them. You know, decorating at Disneyland must be such a riot of a job :D I love all that creativity.

Disneyland must be such a riot of a job

It takes many thousands of workers to make it the Happiest Place on Earth. How'd you like to be a full-time pumpkin carver or something? Pretty cool.

I'm glad the pix brightened your day.

Been missing you around here!

At this time carving pumpkins full time sounds like a great job.

I miss me around here too! This is the rotation year in which I teach Creative Writing, which means I have over a hundred pages of papers to comment on (fun papers, but still). It's like beta reading for seven prolific authors!

Nevertheless, the characters have finally showed up for the next part of the plot in "Crossing" and I got two pages written at about 6 am this morning.

You're very welcome! I wish we could take pics inside the Mansion for Beth -- the whole ride is transformed and so cleverly too! I love it. It's one of our favorite rides, anyway, but the Holiday version is great fun. And in the French Market, a restaurant close by, they have special NBC main dishes and desserts (there's a contest among the chefs to see who can come up with the cutest and most delicious offerings), and a huge NBC themed gingerbread house!

Yeah, there's so many of these that it's not really dialup friendly, even though they're optimised. I did leave them pretty big, though, too. So glad you enjoyed them! The Mansion is always fun, we almost always go on that one.

I have been known to do so in the past, myself. It's so crowded now, I'm not sure I would ever again buy a one day pass. Everything is certainly prettied up for Halloween, and Christmas is just around the corner. Such fun!

Halloween at Disney is always magical

Love the candy Corn A's! But yeah.. the pics dissapear into error links right after the candy Corn bunting and carved pumpkins everywhere... first 2 images.

*Sigh* As an October baby, I am a sucker for halloween (the non scary version. ;-) ) and pumpkins. (I collect Pumpkins...) I really really weish I could go down there this month.. but its jsut not going to happen. :-(

I saw they are doing Hallloween parties.. are they similar to the party at Disney World where everyone can wear costumes and go trick or treating in the park? I noted they were encouraging kids to come in costume, but I wondered about the adults. That's always the fun of Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party, is coming up with a great costume to wear. :-)

Hopefully next year!

Yeah, my niece and daughter are going to one of the "Halloween Treat" nights.

I fixed the markup so you can see all the pix now.

You should think about coming down for the premier of AWE -- we think they're having it here again.

Looks like you guys had a good time! We are all decorated out here too-getting ready for the Halloween festivities. It weird out here though, humid and not at all fall-y. I heard you guys enjoyed some rain today.

Thank you for taking such good care of my love!

Have a good week!

We did have a good time. She is missing you very much though. I bet it's pretty back there too. We had some rain, but the weather was still warm today -- I took a shawl to the opera just in case, but didn't need it in the least.

As for taking care of her, ha! She was busy being all responsible and domestic while I played hookey today in L.A. I came home to homemade cookies and everything all cleaned up and in order. I don't think she knows how to rest.

Not as much as I am missing her. This move has been much harder than I thought it would be. I love her so very much-it pains me to be away from her like this.

Wow! The opera huh? Did you have a good time?

She knows how, she just tends to opt not to. She's coping, I think. She's been very stressed and very worried about Kimmie and things this week. She also loves you both very much and wants to help out. She tends to be a caretaker anyway, but I think things have just been getting to her this week so it has probably put her into hyper-drive. I also think that she is not feeling as well as she is letting us believe and seems to be worrying about that too-keep an eye on her for me, would you?

I think the feeling is entirely mutual.

Wow! The opera huh? Did you have a good time?

Yeah, it was great. Went to see Don Carlo by Verdi at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion. They have an explanatory talk before it starts, and then there is closed captioning in English for the operatically impaired. Helps immensely, I assure you.

keep an eye on her for me, would you?

I try, but she moves pretty fast. Seriously, the week was really (REALLY) stressful for all of us. Hopefully this coming week will be better.

Great pictures! The bat arch was cool and the Nightmare Before Christmas-ish decorations, and so many pumpkins! We have quite a lot of Halloween stuff over here, too, these days, and there's even children going trick or treating.

The bat arch is very cool. All the decorations are beautifully done, and they do most of it right there on site, "backstage". It's expensive, but they do a first class job, really. Disneyland is compacted into such a small area (compared to the other parks around the world) that it's like a jewelbox, stuffed full of intricate surprises, and beautifully maintained throughout. They work hard at it, and it shows.

Glad you enjoyed the pics!

Did you get my last email?

I want more! I just saw these. I'm going to WDW for Halloween and am SO excited.

What is the Golden Screams show?

Maybe they have it at MGM at WDW. It's a little show in which the audience is supposed to pick the cartoon villain that has the best scream. It's very cute. See it, if you get a chance.

I do envy you going to WDW for Halloween. I'd like to go back there, one of these days. It's been ten years since I was there.

I've never been to WDW for Halloween so I'm stoked.

However, I'm envious of you for the NBC Haunted Holiday overlay. I've been dying to see that for YEARS. And the only time I've been to California, I didn't go to Disneyland. *big fat frown*

The NBC overlay is so well done -- I'm always impressed with how thoroughly the Mansion is transformed. There was some question about whether they'd do it this year -- something about the contract having run out -- but I'm very happy they worked it out and brought it back.

They don't do it at WDW though? Makes it even more special for us, but it's a long commute for you. But I'm sure they have lots to make up for it back there.
