Disneyland Halloween PicSpam!

Went to Disneyland today with
gingersnapps and admired the Halloween decorations. Here's a holiday picspam from the Magic Kingdom.
California Adventure! Note the candy corn A's. :D

Bat Arch

Lamp Posts by the Tower of Terror

Fall Decorations

Grizzly Mountain

Banner for the Golden Screams Awards Show -- very cute, and worth seeing

From Cars...

Then on to the Magic Kingdom...
These were over the entrance.

The Mickey in flowers in front of the train station is now made of lots of orange and white mini-pumpkins.

Peripheral decorations -- they'll be prettier when the mums bloom fully as the pumpkin design will then be orange.

Main Street Lamp Posts now look like this...

Candy corn colored bunting, fall flowers and foliage, and carved pumpkins are everywhere...

There's a big Mickey pumpkin in town square...

Castmembers only through this door...

In the central plaza there are still more carved pumpkins, one for each land...

Frontierland and "Woody's Halloween Roundup"

Don't know what kind of plant this is, but we thought it interesting...

Great Pumpkin Carver!

Another interesting plant...

We went on the Columbia and were entertained by this pirate...

He wore an unusual timepiece...

The Haunted Mansion is dressed up for Nightmare Before Halloween. Such fun!

It's too bad one can't take pix inside the ride -- it's so well done, really transforms the original ride quite completely.
Went over to the new Port Royal pirate store -- pirate swag in abundance there and at Pieces of Eight, which is the next store over.
These bottles were hanging from the ceiling inside the store -- pretty!

gingersnapps ran out of room on her camera after that, so no more pix. We went and had lunch at the Blue Bayou (the Trio of Creme Brulee is great!), then went on the Pirates ride, admired the Jack Sparrow walk-around (as did a long line of females waiting to have their picture taken with him), then bought coconut cashew brittle and made our departure. A lovely fall day!

Date: 2006-10-01 02:30 pm (UTC)It takes many thousands of workers to make it the Happiest Place on Earth. How'd you like to be a full-time pumpkin carver or something? Pretty cool.
I'm glad the pix brightened your day.
Been missing you around here!

Date: 2006-10-01 06:15 pm (UTC)I miss me around here too! This is the rotation year in which I teach Creative Writing, which means I have over a hundred pages of papers to comment on (fun papers, but still). It's like beta reading for seven prolific authors!
Nevertheless, the characters have finally showed up for the next part of the plot in "Crossing" and I got two pages written at about 6 am this morning.

Date: 2006-10-02 03:28 am (UTC)Halloween at Disney is always magical
Date: 2006-10-01 08:53 pm (UTC)*Sigh* As an October baby, I am a sucker for halloween (the non scary version. ;-) ) and pumpkins. (I collect Pumpkins...) I really really weish I could go down there this month.. but its jsut not going to happen. :-(
I saw they are doing Hallloween parties.. are they similar to the party at Disney World where everyone can wear costumes and go trick or treating in the park? I noted they were encouraging kids to come in costume, but I wondered about the adults. That's always the fun of Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party, is coming up with a great costume to wear. :-)
Hopefully next year!

Date: 2006-10-02 02:19 am (UTC)I fixed the markup so you can see all the pix now.
You should think about coming down for the premier of AWE -- we think they're having it here again.

Date: 2006-10-02 03:36 am (UTC)As for taking care of her, ha! She was busy being all responsible and domestic while I played hookey today in L.A. I came home to homemade cookies and everything all cleaned up and in order. I don't think she knows how to rest.

Date: 2006-10-02 04:05 am (UTC)Wow! The opera huh? Did you have a good time?
She knows how, she just tends to opt not to. She's coping, I think. She's been very stressed and very worried about Kimmie and things this week. She also loves you both very much and wants to help out. She tends to be a caretaker anyway, but I think things have just been getting to her this week so it has probably put her into hyper-drive. I also think that she is not feeling as well as she is letting us believe and seems to be worrying about that too-keep an eye on her for me, would you?

Date: 2006-10-02 04:16 am (UTC)I think the feeling is entirely mutual.
Yeah, it was great. Went to see Don Carlo by Verdi at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion. They have an explanatory talk before it starts, and then there is closed captioning in English for the operatically impaired. Helps immensely, I assure you.
I try, but she moves pretty fast. Seriously, the week was really (REALLY) stressful for all of us. Hopefully this coming week will be better.

Date: 2006-10-10 05:18 am (UTC)I do envy you going to WDW for Halloween. I'd like to go back there, one of these days. It's been ten years since I was there.

Date: 2006-10-10 05:43 am (UTC)However, I'm envious of you for the NBC Haunted Holiday overlay. I've been dying to see that for YEARS. And the only time I've been to California, I didn't go to Disneyland. *big fat frown*

Date: 2006-10-10 01:09 pm (UTC)They don't do it at WDW though? Makes it even more special for us, but it's a long commute for you. But I'm sure they have lots to make up for it back there.
