Disneyland Christmas Picspam (1/7)
Nov. 19th, 2006 05:15 pmWent to the Happiest Place on Earth yesterday with niece
gingersnapps for the express purpose of taking pictures of the Christmas decorations. We went on Small World (so cute dressed for the holidays) and the train (to save us a little walking -- we did enough as it was) and on PotC (of course!), had a delightful dinner at the Wine Country Trattoria over in California Adventure, and brought back over 200 pictures (and still didn't get quite all we'd planned). Here's the first part...
Main Street station is garlanded.

Lots of poinsettias being used in the planters.

The horse drawn street car was being put away for the day (I expect it's not safe when the park gets crazy crowded). The horse had poinsettias woven into mane and tail.

The big Christmas tree in town square -- just under 65 feet tall.

Garlands over Main Street

Every building is garlanded.

These are some of the decorations in the Blue Ribbon Bakery...

More flowers in beds -- cyclamen and amaryllis and sweet alyssum.

And more poinsettias...

The castle, in holiday dress.

A close-up of the wreath in front of the castle.

From the bridge in front of the castle, overlooking the moat. The Snow White grotto is seen in the trees beyond the smaller bridge.

TBC!

Date: 2006-11-20 01:25 am (UTC)Although the horse looks like it is eating someone.
Or maybe I just need more coffee.

Date: 2006-11-20 01:41 am (UTC)But I've never ever been there around the holidays. Wow! It looks like so much fun, doesn't it? coming up with all those ideas, and then seeing them put together? That castle-wreath, that's really amazing.
Thanks for sharing these :)

Date: 2006-11-20 02:15 am (UTC)It's just beautiful around the holidays. They really go all out to make it a special time.
More pix coming! Though seeing it in person is much more better. *G*

Date: 2006-11-20 03:27 am (UTC)Do they go to the same great lengths decorating for other holidays? Or just Christmas?

Date: 2006-11-20 05:04 am (UTC)Did you see the Halloween picspam I posted? They really went all out for that too, this year. But no, they don't do it for every holiday.

Date: 2006-11-20 02:29 am (UTC)But for sure it doesn't freeze, or only very very rarely, so yeah, poinsettias and cyclamen in beds, and lots of beautiful greenery all year long. It's a gardeners paradise (although the ones who work there have to work at night, of course).
More pix coming!

Date: 2006-11-20 03:16 am (UTC)Wow; 91 degrees is no fun in the Big City.
I recall moving to Long Beach after being reared in northern Ohio. I almost never got my Christmas shopping done. It just didn't seem right without a coat.

Date: 2006-11-20 06:30 am (UTC)Great pics! That horse really DOES look like it's eating the kid. LOL (but silent lol because it's late and everyone else is asleep)
I can't wait to go to Disneyland myself next month. Still haven't been on the new Jack-enhanced PotC ride. I must admit, I was appalled a bit when I first heard of the changes they were planning on making to the ride but I finally decided that adding Jack Sparrow cannot be a bad thing!
I heard there's a new restaurant in New Orleans Square -- kind of a casual version of the Blue Bayou. Can you confirm this?
Thanks for posting all these!

Date: 2006-11-20 03:22 pm (UTC)Cafe Orleans is now a full service restaurant, rather than a walk-through buffet (Here's the menu). They have (among other things) the Monte Cristo sandwich in 2 or 3 forms, and some wonderful new desserts, although the Blue Bayou's Creme Brulee Trio just can't be beat, IMHO.
Speaking of the Blue Bayou, prices have increased and the menu has changed somewhat since it reopened, although you can split meals, and the service is still wonderful.
