Better late than never. These are for [livejournal.com profile] kahva, too. I've signed up to do [livejournal.com profile] drabbles100 -- PotC: General Movie -- and although I haven't received word from the mods that my request has been accepted, I've started writing anyway. The first three prompts seemed to lend themselves to three related drabbles, about Will and Elizabeth's first week in Port Royal.

ETA: Actually, I signed up to do [livejournal.com profile] fanfic100. Putting the table back on a table of contents page now. Silly GM.

1. Beginnings

Will stayed with the Swanns that first week in Port Royal. He had a small room to himself, in the servants' wing, and Elizabeth made certain of his comfort.

"You shouldn't order the housekeeper about like that!" Will told her, dismayed.

"Nonsense. Father said I'm the lady of the house, now that mother is... is gone."

Her voice was unsteady, betraying her. She had lost her mother almost the same time his own had died, the year before. The shared grief was a bond between them.

"I'm sorry."

"It's all right." She straightened, determinedly.

"It will be." He took her hand.

2. Middles

Long after midnight, he woke to her scratch at his door. She was barefoot, and clad in a cloud of lawn, satin, and lace. A dream, he thought, until she spoke.

"Let me in! I saved some cakes from dinner."

She squeezed past and sat herself upon his bed, unwrapped the cakes and served them up. "Four for you and four for me."

"Elizabeth... Miss Swann! You shouldn't be here."

Her eyes sparkled in the candlelight, all sweet mischief. "I know, Mr. Turner. Now come and eat."

I'm doomed. But he only said, "Yes, ma'am," and meekly shut the door.

3. Ends

"We can't leave him here, Father!"

"Elizabeth, hush."

"But can't we--"

"There shall be no more discussion!"

Elizabeth desisted, but Will saw from her mulish expression that it was a temporary respite at best.

The Governor nodded to Mr. Brown, then smiled at Will. "I know you'll make a fine smith's apprentice. I have every faith I leave you in good hands. Come, Elizabeth. Say goodbye."

Elizabeth's distress was evident. "Farewell, Will," she said. "I'll... I'll still be watching."

When they'd gone, Mr. Brown shook his head. "Cheeky chit!" he remarked.

But Will thought, Guardian Angel, his heart full.

Awwwww. Lovely. So fun to think of them as children playing together.

Thanks so much! I think they had to have had some time together, before embarking on such different paths. There's that kind of connection between them at the beginning of CotBP.

So, seeing the trailer has sparked some (totally non-related) muse activity? ;) Wonderful and dear, and I just love Mr. Brown's assessment.

I was trying to think of some W/E to write for [livejournal.com profile] yoiebear, and their relationship was so much less complicated back then. Glad you enjoyed this! Thank you for commenting. :)

Those are lovely - you imply so much of their later story in these early scenes.
I especially like the first one with Elizabeth wobbling between bossy and vulnerable, and Will already protective.

With all the potential angst in the finale of the trilogy, it was just easier to revisit the past with these characters. I'm so happy you thought them in character. Thank you for reading and commenting!

Are these childish adventures because they are so much alike, or so much different? Do opposites attract? Or do like run with like?

Fun stuff, regardless. Thanks, mama!

A little of each, I reckon. So happy you enjoyed these! Thank you for reading and commenting.

I love anything with children, whether they are Will and Elizabeth as kids or with their children. I think stories like these show a different dynamic to the characters that most people don't think about.

Lovely, Geekmama! "Middles" is my particular favorite -- I love this scene, especially with her sort of sweetly strong-arming her way in -- but all three are great shapshots of them. The seeds of what's to come...

Awwwww!! These are cute! Sorry to comment so late, I'm just now getting to stuff that was posted on LJ on Sunday and Monday. Between getting to go to the NCAA first round women's game on Sunday at the RBC Center, then getting sick Sunday night/Monday morning, I missed a lot of LJ stuff. I love how you portray Will and Elizabeth as youngsters, and I do agree that there had to have been a bond there when they were children, before society stepped in and made them travel separate paths. Excellent! :) Would it be possible for you to post these on the Library? Please, please, pretty please asks the kitty in the icon? :)

Yes, of course I'll post them at BP Library, and at Sails too -- never did that.

I'm so glad you enjoyed these! Maybe my muse will be less distracted by the glorious AWE trailer tonight and I'll be able to get a few more done. *G*

Or maybe the AWE trailer will spark even more drabbles, or a fic? Hey, I'm an optimist! :)

You know, I should probably put up a post at the Library asking folks that if they post AWE-era fic/drabbles/poems, to warn for possible spoilers where appropriate. Especially since the junior novelization is scheduled to come out well ahead of the movie.

Thank you again for the drabbles! :)

You, my dear, are evOl. I just went over to Amazon to check out the jr. novelization and ended up ordering almost a hundred bucks worth of stuff, including that.

Yes, indeed, AWE drabbles would be fun! I've been thinking of some scenarios, actually -- hard to turn one's head off, after seeing such inspiring scenes. :)

Heheheheheheheheeh... I intend to head over to Barnes and Noble the day the junior novelization is to come out and get a copy. My experience with them is that so far, the novels have been pretty much spot on, with just a few minor variances. With the last one, it was a line being said by Bootstrap that in the movie, it was said by Gibbs. With the first one, Jack putting back his coin after Barbossa was dead was in the book, but in the movie, his coin went back in at the same time as Will's - which is as it should have been, or otherwise there would've been a big plothole there.

And yes, I'm loving the trailer, especially Will and Elizabeth's kiss in the middle of all the chaos. And of course tied up Will. But I think it's fairly well-known that I'm a sucker for Will in mortal danger. :) I'm also loving Barbossa's maniacal laughter while manning the wheel of the Black Pearl. :) And you can't leave out Jack and Davy Jones battling in the rigging!! Geez, isn't May 25th here YET?!?!

Happy writing! :)
