Recs!!!

Two fics I have to rec -- the first is [livejournal.com profile] erinya's Curiosity. It's possible that I love it merely because she wrote it for me for my birthday last week... nawwwww. It's great, just like all her work. It takes a closer look at those J/E scenes in DMC, with a little side trip back to the island they shared in CotBP. Sweeeeet!

The second is NC-17, both slash and het, and is truly laugh-out-loud funny: [livejournal.com profile] penknife's On the Lesser Known Hazards of Piracy. No spoilers for AWE at all, just hotness and hilarity using the odd (and oddly effective) device of body switching.

And LOOK what [livejournal.com profile] honorat told us about today!!

Fantastic fics and authors here ([livejournal.com profile] erinrua's PotC: The African Star finally getting the exposure it deserves!) and [livejournal.com profile] honorat's beautiful artwork, too!!

So much good reading! Enjoy!

What magazine is that?

An African Star was one of the first PotC fics I read. It's fantastic.

That should be *and African Star.

Thanks for the recs; I saved the longer to read later.
Many happy returns for your birthday, and the celebration your girls provided. Thanks for sharing the pictures.
Haven't heard much from honorat in a while. Did she drift away (I should talk) or what?
Always loved her artwork. That gal can do things with hair and lace that should be illegal.
Do you plan to dress in costume and see WE at midnight? Your minions will breathlessly await your review.

I know, yay! That particular fic is one that I rec all over the place to show people how very awesome and smokin' hot J/E can be. The equivalent of waving it around wildly and exclaming "Look! SHINY!"

Thanks for the rec, love! But [livejournal.com profile] penknife's story is just about the best thing ever. Like very high quality crack. *g*

Judging by the scanned page, that is a really good article on fanfiction. Sounds like it was written by someone on the inside, as it were.

It was one of my first, too. I think lots of us can say the same, actually.

[livejournal.com profile] penknife's? Not office safe, and don't drink coffee or something while reading it. Soooo funny!

[livejournal.com profile] honorat has been busy with RL, taking care of her own new little minion. ;) Perhaps she'll have more time and inspiration to commune with us in the coming months.

I have tickets for nine to the midnight showing at the El Capitan in Hollywood. I'm sure lots of people will dress up -- I'll probably wear some of my piratey jewelry or something, but not full garb.

Will review ASAP. I'm so excited -- only a week away!!!!

Thanks for the birthday wishes -- I appreciate it!

I have a feeling [livejournal.com profile] erinrua wrote it -- all those fics are on her recs page. Sooooo happy she succumbed to our nagging and put African Star on there. It should've been on last year.

I meant to rec your fic before this -- it's a lovely companion piece to the one [livejournal.com profile] hereswith wrote me. You guys are the BEST!!

And yes, when [livejournal.com profile] penknife gets it right, it's completely amazing. I'm glad I didn't try to read that at work!

Well I never. Wow. Goodness. Otherwise - what a good selection of recs they've picked. Of course it's not inclusive, but nevertheless, good taste showed! I think I've missed a couple, and I haven't read [livejournal.com profile] penknife's fic you recced either, so lots of good reading ahead. :)

*blinks, stunned* That's... wow. Just wow. And I have to admit I'm thrilled it's that particular story (the one I wrote for you!), since it's my little gender reversal experiment :-)

*feels stupid* That's what I get for not reading at BPS lately.

But how exciting to see [livejournal.com profile] honorat's pretties, and mention of so many favorite fics!! *bounces*

Oh my God, I'm on there! And it's the Tortuga Chronicles, which I'd completely forgotten about. *gapes*

Isn't [livejournal.com profile] honorat's artwork gorgeous?

*gapes some more* I... I'm completely gobsmacked.

The mag's aimed at kids, so of course the smut and slash and etc. are verboten, but this makes lots more people aware that fanfic is out there, and if they're looking for something sexier they'll be able to find it through these links -- it happened last year, after DMC, too.

How could I not rec that story of yours? I love humor and smut, and great characterization, and that story had it in spades!

CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!!!

Thanks for the posting the recs and the article scan. It was a very interesting read, and well done.

And Happy Birthday, even if it is a bit late.

I wish the mag would have come out earlier -- but then again, I didn't get Johnny's autograph this year at all, so I guess it doesn't matter.

Lots of great reading on that list. :))

Speaking of which, did you have a blast at the big event out there on the west coast? (You will notice the thoughtful omission of the words "lucky beyotch" from that question.)

I was glancing through the premiere photos on Yahoo (y'know, since I can't get the bloody stupid clips to play for me) and it looked liked Keira Knightley wasn't there, which I thought was muy odd.

LOL! Well, I really am. We had a great time -- met up with [livejournal.com profile] erinya again, and [livejournal.com profile] corrielle, had a great time with [livejournal.com profile] compassrose7577 and [livejournal.com profile] ballincollig and her friend, Dora, my niece, [livejournal.com profile] gingersnapps, some of her friends (who walked the red carpet and saw the movie), and mutual friend [livejournal.com profile] elissali. It was a wonderful weekend, and the event was both grueling (with the heat and the crowd) and eminently squee-worthy.

Keira was not there, which may be due to other commitments or to just being burned out with the whole thing, and I really can't blame her. I'm very glad I got to see her last year -- she was so beautiful, and very sweet!

How fun. That's got to be cool, to have everybody geographically able to hook up.

Oh, by the way, Happy Birthday, and congratulations on your promotion to Captain! (I don't think I've actually thrown confetti at you for that over at BPS yet. Bad virgo.)

Girl, I'm dying for this movie. Dying for it. We're going tomorrow night, and I can't stand it. I don't even want to go to work today; I want to stay home and be irresponsible and talk pirtates all day long.
