Writing stuff down now as I remember it -- too good not to.

Jack speaking Latin at the Brethren Council. Educated!Jack is one of my favorite things in nature.

Jack rummaging in Beckett's quarters, looking for the heart of course, but he would anyway; and then swiping the little toy Beckett and putting it in the cannon before making his exit: so delightfully Jackish!!

Seconded!

Hurray for Educated!Jack!! Any man who can draw useful life lessons from the finer ichthyological points of cuttlefish behavior is the man for me ;)

I keep forgetting about this! It's so fic-like! Do you know what he said, by any chance?

I don't! I wonder if [livejournal.com profile] ballincollig does -- she's doing Medieval studies or something for her PhD. Or [livejournal.com profile] viva_gloria or [livejournal.com profile] tessabeth might know, too.

Ooh, he spoke Latin! I know Latin myself, and I thought I was being an idiot and my English listening comprehension was goners because it was late and people were loud. *giggle*

He did an amazing job with those lines to Giselle and Scarlett.

Since I didn't even think it was Latin, no, I didn't. My English listening comprehension is fairly good for a non-native, I'd say, but with squeeing and clapping and booing and awwing, I simply couldn't understand everything. And I'd resigned myself that some of the pirates were particularly hard to understand; and simply thought Jack was babbling something in English I didn't understand AT ALL.

I may see the German version with my family one of these days, then I can have a listen if it's anything that rings a bell.

I know what Jack said!! We have movies with subtitles and the Latin part was in subtitles too; he said "Res ipsa loquitur" - "The thing speaks for itself". I also love educated Jack:)

I've just found an informaton that Hunter S. Thompson frequently used the Latin phrase to end some of his gonzo journalistic political pieces. Looks like another Johnny's inside joke;)
