Yuletide FYI
Jan. 2nd, 2008 03:49 pmI participated in the Yuletide fic exchange this year, and it was quite an experience. Georgette Heyer's The Grand Sophy was one of the fandoms I both requested and offered to write, and I received The Grand Sophy is Surprised by
gloriana, which I just loved. In addition, I received an extra "Yuletide Treat", Christmas Red by Willow Smith, which is based on Georgette Heyer's These Old Shades, another favorite book of mine!
I wrote En Dishabille for
neonhummingbird, which turned out surprisingly well for my first foray outside PotC in many years. My deepest thanks go to
hereswith and
the_stowaway who both beta read for me, and whose input certainly improved the story.
Yuletide inspired 1291 authors to produce 2031 stories in 733 small fandoms, and the organization of the whole thing was a work of art in itself. Pretty amazing, I must say! Check out some of the stories there, if you get a chance -- some great writers participated, and with that many fandoms represented there is something for anyone and everyone.

Many thanks to
hereswith for the quick edit!
BTW, I wrote this using Writely, Google's new web-based word processor, and I'm liking it more and more -- many thanks to
viva_gloria for the heads up on that. I went to the html screen, and voilĂ ! there's all the mark up -- rather more coding than I would've put in, but still, it worked, and very conveniently. I use three different computers to write with on a regular basis, and Writely allows me to use any of them without worrying about copying or emailing the files.
Oh, and one other thing: I've been updating Black Pearl Tales with lots more fanart and reference sources for writers. I'm adding more stories, too, some of the latest ones that are spoilery for DMC (although I expect we don't need to worry about spoilers so much any more). Check it out if you get a chance!
