Went with [livejournal.com profile] ladymora, [livejournal.com profile] shockwavesix, and [livejournal.com profile] eliensign to see Pirates of Penzance at the T.O. Civic Arts Plaza. Mind you, [livejournal.com profile] ladymora and I have probably listened to that soundtrack at least fifty or sixty times, and seen the movie a few too, and we were just hoping against hope not to be disappointed. Well, the production absolutely blew us out of the water! It was so good we went out at intermission and bought ten more tickets for next Friday night! The cast is fantastic: wonderful voices, great dancing, brilliant comedy, energetic throughout. The Pirate King is dramatically handsome and hilariously funny--everything he should be! Costumes & sets are wonderful. A truly memorable production. It's only there a week (7/24 is the closing performance), so hurry and see it if you live anywhere near the Thousand Oaks, California area. Superb.

Must write now. I am going to finish and post chapter 12 of Norrington's Choice tomorrow if it kills me. And it just may. Although I've gotten through the action sequence now, so it should go smoother.

so... Ford and I wouldn't mind checking that out if you still have a couple of tickets not spoken for... otherwise we could try to buy some ourselves... just how far away is Thousand Oaks again? (yay, car pool road trip!?)

::big grin::

If you haven't read my PotC story, "The Spittin' Image," let me recommend it. (No, I don't usually go around pimping my own stuff.) You might be one of the few who actually spot all the Pirates of Penzance quotes I embedded in it.

::evil grin::

Wish I lived near Thousand Oaks.

OMG, I will definitely read it, just as soon as I'm done with Norrington's Choice (3/4 CHAPTER TO GO! YAY!). I've had it bookmarked to read for a while now, and am looking forward to doing more reading and less writing for a bit. Feedback will be forthcoming, I promise. I have heard lots of great things about The Spittin' Image!

Cool. I'm not sure if I know how to make a link work in an LJ, but I'll try to put one here. (http://www.fanfiction.net/s/1769208/1/) http://www.fanfiction.net/s/1769208/1/

I've had many lovely reviewers, but only one - ONE! - even noticed the quotes. And sometimes I thought they were obnoxious and intrusive in the story. Oh well. If the link doesn't work you can find it at ff.net under Mojave Dragonfly.

Congratulations on finishing Norrington's Choice!

Thanks for sending the link--I checked my bookmark and it wasn't working! I saved the new link, and am looking forward to reading it.

Thanks for the congrats, too. It's been a long haul--took me over four months to write Norrington's Choice, which is much longer than I spent on the other two. But it came out pretty much the way I planned--kind of a humorous romance/adventure, I think. I was able to incorporate all the elements I'd planned, too--everything but the kitchen sink!

Did you ever post The Spittin' Image on Live Journal? I've been thinking of posting my Harry & the Pirate stories to my journal, if only for archival purposes (although more feedback would be nice...), but maybe to [livejournal.com profile] pirategasm and [livejournal.com profile] potc_fic, too, although they seem to post mostly slash stuff at those venues. Mine's not only het, but has an OC--I can hear the screams of "Mary Sue" now! Still, they're both supposed to be for all kinds of PotC stories, as [livejournal.com profile] fabu pointed out.

Hard to believe only ONE of your readers noticed the quotes--I almost know the play by heart, and my daughter, [livejournal.com profile] ladymora certainly does! LOL! We had to restrain ourselves from singing along last Friday!
