What a concert! Went to the Oxnard Performing Arts center (very sixties looking, but nice) with family and friends to see Weird Al Yankovic.
weemonkey6 and I had seen him several years ago at the Ventura County Fair, so we knew we were in for a great show. Al did not disappoint! It was even better seeing him at an indoor venue--the staging, and in particular the lighting, is so impressive--really, really great effects. As always, Al was hilariously funny, but the caliber of his and his backups' musicianship is what strikes one at his live performances. Stunning, really. He's a great performer, and it was wonderful having an opportunity to see him again. Many thanks to
shockwavesix for organizing the event for our group! It was a wonderful evening!
We bracketed the concert with dinner at Coco's (The Mini-blind Incident enlivened the proceedings there), and with coffee and dessert at the Denny's on Ventura Rd. & Channel Islands Blvd. I don't think I need to eat today.
Was friended by
chainedbunny this morning! Yay! Friended back, and was immediately amused by her account of recent activity at Random House. Rats! Ugh!
OK. Must make breakfast for Mom, swim, and complete work on the Summer Newsletter. If I can get that newsletter done, maybe I'll have time to write some more. There are a bunch of old Drabble Challenge themes I've been saving up for when I was done with Harry & the Pirate. And then there's a
pirates500 challenge I've been thinking of doing...
But first: NEWSLETTER. Yes. Going now.
("...Yes, but they don't go!...")
