Heeeeee, Sharon, I went to see Beowulf this weekend and it had the Sweeney Todd traaaaaailer! I hadn't realized it was the actual musical until now, but it so totally is and I am so excited XD
I can't wait to see it -- I think it comes out Christmas day, and you know where I'll be that afternoon. How was Beowulf? Was the violence tolerable? I'm so whimpy...
I actually don't think it was too bad at all. Most of the violence was kind of... not shown? Like, more implied than actually portrayed right there in front of you. The only exception if Grendel, who is zomgewgross. But on the whole I really enjoyed it ^^
I posted this so I wouldn't loose that link, but I got it from you, and I do thank you most sincerely for posting it! I have to agree about the seriously awesome!
Oh, my. Singing, indeed! He's quite good, isn't he. I'm a bit embarrassed for him. There's something....sort of.....undignified about musicals. Don't get me wrong -- I like musicals. But when I watched Crybaby, I had to fast forward through all the songs -- I just felt embarrassed for him. Not sure why I feel this way -- some of my all-time favorite musicals, especially when I was younger, were musicals -- Mary Poppins, The Music Man, all the Disney movies, etc.
Anyway, thanks for the link! I've been meaning to go track down the trailer so I could see him singing. Morbid curiosity. :)
He is very good -- and we were all wondering about that (including him, apparently).

Sometimes there is, I must agree. If they're done well, though, they can work wonderfully, and we can only hope this is one of those. I also agree with you a bit on Crybaby, except I adore the period references so much I love the movie anyway, in spite of the silly spots.

Yeah, he can stop worrying about that now. We've all given him our seal of approval! :)
I guess my feelings about musicals are very mixed. On one hand, I love them, some of my favorite movies, etc., and definitely some of my favorite songs (I have whole playlists on my ipod for Disney movies and Broadway musicals), but then sometimes, they just make me cringe a little -- people bursting into song and all. I can't wait to see Enchanted -- I love how evertime one of the fairy-tale characters start to sing, one of the real world people say "Don't do that." :)
Yeah. He's truly a chameleon, which is one of the things I admire about him as "Johnny Depp the actor", rather than just "Johnny Depp, the guy who plays Jack Sparrow." Which to be honest, was how I first got to know him -- through Pirates. Then I started watching some of his other movies, and totally fell in love.
But every once in a while, watching those other movies, I'll see an expression or movement that reminds me of Jack, and I'll just go all fangirlish.
