Beyond the Far Horizon by [livejournal.com profile] salr323 -- amazing. AMAZING I tell you. A thrilling adventure, period detail, UST (so far), a Christmas treat of the highest order. Chapters 1-4 of 13 posted so far.

Go. Read. Even if J/E isn't quite your thing, the writing is simply brilliant. Not to be missed. Really.

ETA: More Spectacular Christmas Gifts -- Back in April, [livejournal.com profile] viva_gloria and [livejournal.com profile] tessabeth began to post a magnificent Jack backstory/Impverse fic called Bounty (Slash, rated NC-17), but RL got in the way and they ended up taking down what they'd posted (which was superb -- the second chapter battle scene was the best I'd ever read) and putting it on the back burner. Today, [livejournal.com profile] viva_gloria reveals that her NaNoWriMo project for this year was the resurrected, rewritten and completed Bounty, edited by her esteemed co-author. Holy Cats! WHAT a magnificent Christmas gift. I, for one, am entirely blown away.

*melts into a puddle of Christmassy delight*

And now, I really have to zoom. Will you believe it, the tree is still undecorated?? And I have shopping and baking to do, besides. However, the Roast Beast is in the fridge for tomorrow night, and there will be piratey reading of true excellence before bed tonight.

Merry Christmas to all of you!!!

Thank you!!

Oh what a wonderful story Beyond the Far Horizon is! I love it already!

The other one is not my cup of tea...

Thank you again though, and Merry Christmas!

I should have warned you that Bounty is slash, and very graphic. Sorry. I'll edit that rec to reflect those facts.

But I'm so happy you're enjoying Far Horizon -- I was just blown away by the writing, and the very plausible post-AWE scenario, as well. [livejournal.com profile] salr323 has written quite a bit of other pirate!fic, mostly with a J/E slant, though she has her own take on the nature of their relationship. Her journal is well worth checking out.

Merry Christmas to you, too!

That's okay. Slash has its moments...but I usually can't handle too much of it.

Yes, I agree the writing is excellent and have been overwhelmed with joy at having found all these wonderful artists and their work. I love POTC and reading these stories keeps it alive for me.

If you are interested, I know of an excellent story involving Lord Beckett and Norrington and others...borders on slash but not really, has more OFC interests. Excellent writing though, the author is a wordsmith extraordinaire...

Hope you have a wonderful Christmas...

Send me a link -- I'm always looking for well-written fic. I tend to prefer the pirates over the navy/EITC boys, but I love Norrington.

Bounty starts out with a really graphic chapter, but the second chapter is that battle and it's fabulous, truly -- I'd recommend reading that, at least. Bounty is a continuation of a three-part Jack backstory that [livejournal.com profile] tessabeth wrote quite a while back, now, the Years of Their Acquaintance series, and only the third part is slashy - in fact, [livejournal.com profile] erinrua, Admiral of Black Pearl Sails, put the first part on her recs page, which is non-slash only. It's fantastic writing -- [livejournal.com profile] tessabeth is one of the very best writers in the fandom -- and should not be missed.

oooh, thank you for rec! It's good to see Bounty back and appreciated and complete at last: it felt like an itch while it was on ice. I do hope you enjoy it!

ICON!!! It makes me so happy to see that icon again. I opened Bounty this morning (didn't get to bed until 3:30 after finishing wrapping), and am very impressed with the html layout. Beautiful, and I love the map! Must Cook in a major way today -- first some baking, then dinner -- as many guests will be here tonight, but tomorrow afternoon you know where I'll be.

You're very welcome for the rec -- how could I not?

I'm so glad the layout worked -- was doing it last night in the throes of this really frightful cold / flu which is making me thoroughly sick and miserable! (It's good to be distracted by LiveJournal and online friends!)
