Drabble: 'Wholly Unholy' - Jack/Angelica, PG

My first Jack/Angelica offering, exactly 100 words using an element of their backstory that's mentioned in one of the trailers. Uses the current drabble challenge prompt at blackpearlsails...



~ Wholly Unholy ~


He’d seen this done once or twice before, thanks to Mum’s Spanish blood and sporadic papist guilt. Fortunate, though, that he had a facility for Latin. And fortunate that beeswax candles were so dear that a pair, along with the mote-flecked rays of sunlight streaming through the high windows, was considered sufficient to illuminate the novices’ morning service.

One lass wasn’t fooled, though – naturally enough. Her eyes flashed in the dim, and her teeth. A smile, like before? Or a snarl?

All in all, he was thankful that a sturdy communion rail now lay between “Father Juan” and Sister Angelica.

HA! That was really fun, and SO in character for Jack. I like that Angelica's a quick one...

And I quite adore the phrase "sporadic papist guilt." It has a nice cadence to it.

Oh lovity lovity love this! The title is just exactly right. Jack seems to have a propensity for impersonating clerics--the impious rapscallion. And I do like the attraction/antagonism already striking sparks between Jack and Angelica. I do want to know what happens next!

First and foremost, I love this exact little picture--I adore the whole cloth of this little beauty. It's a peach, ripe and juicy, innit?!!

Mum’s Spanish blood and sporadic papist guilt/whatever made you say this thank it cos it's about the bestest quick study of DNA and cultural mores...and about my favorite pirate...oh, and utterly charming!

How I'm reading this is there was a "meeting" earlier...a pleasant meeting earlier, with lots of er, "smiling" and some general tom foolery. That Jack escaped with his parts...well, he is Captain Jack, but lord he may have been cutting it a little close I'm thinkin'.

Yes, Angelica's pretty sharp, the convent adventure intrigues me. I don't know if I'd write any "present day" J/A, but I might try to write that, either a long story or bits and pieces.

As I told corrielle above, their backstory intrigues me, particularly the convent adventure, which I might try to write at least bits and pieces of, if not the whole thing as a longer story.

Oh, no, Jack is very liberal with his favors, and quick to seize the opportune moment, whether it's stealing kisses or gold chalices.
