My first Jack/Angelica offering, exactly 100 words using an element of their backstory that's mentioned in one of the trailers. Uses the current drabble challenge prompt at blackpearlsails...



~ Wholly Unholy ~


He’d seen this done once or twice before, thanks to Mum’s Spanish blood and sporadic papist guilt. Fortunate, though, that he had a facility for Latin. And fortunate that beeswax candles were so dear that a pair, along with the mote-flecked rays of sunlight streaming through the high windows, was considered sufficient to illuminate the novices’ morning service.

One lass wasn’t fooled, though – naturally enough. Her eyes flashed in the dim, and her teeth. A smile, like before? Or a snarl?

All in all, he was thankful that a sturdy communion rail now lay between “Father Juan” and Sister Angelica.
