This wasn’t relief he was feeling" Okay, this thinkin' is some of the little that can have me instantly weeping becos it hurts so very much at such a deep level--Jack believing no one would want him to continue on with...that is just utterly devastating. Have I ever said how besotted I am at reference to Jack and cats, or Jack described with feline attributes? It's the perfect totem for him imho becos he always acts as though that's what he means to do, regardless and he does land on his feet more often than not.Don't always love everything about my critters but lord knows, I love them with all my heart and wouldn't ever willingly part from them. That's how it is for me.
I love this story becos Jack rising to the situation, being that one person on earth he disavows he ever is...now that's cool beans.
It's particularly wonderful as I missed Christmas entirely from a bug I wouldn't wish on Beckett--every part of me aches today and your story did a little to add to it becos even laughing hurts.
