Drabblish Valentine Fic
Feb. 14th, 2012 05:16 pmHappy Valentines Day to all! We're heading out for Thai food and a movie (My Week with Marilyn), but I wanted to post this little Valentine drabble first, for the 'Love' prompt. This is more J/E at Shipwreck Cove, and my sincere thanks to
hereswith for looking it over! Thank you, too, to all of you who sent me LJ glass hearts, they look so pretty on my profile page!
~ A Pirate’s Valentine ~
Rose petals. In Shipwreck Cove.
Elizabeth stared, then followed the trail, up, up, up, growing ever more suspicious as she realized it led, by a somewhat circuitous route, to her own quarters, high and remote.
And private, which was probably all to the good.
He hadn’t even closed the door all the way, but when she cautiously pushed it open (damn the squeaking hinge!), he wasn’t in the steaming tub (flanked by a small ornate table holding flowers and a plate of sweetmeats, and by a portable brazier keeping a copper kettle hot), but instead was standing, fully garbed, over by the window where a blaze of orange, pink, and red proclaimed evening’s advent.
“What’s all this?” she demanded, more harshly than she’d intended, for she was taken aback by the solemn expression he wore when he turned to her. “You said Valentine’s Day was rubbish!”
“Had it in mind to surprise you.”
Remembering the lack of accord between them, these last few days – Cove business that seemed strangely unimportant at the moment – she had to admit, “I am surprised.”
He came toward her then, a glint in his eye, the hint of a smile curving his lips. “You like it then? Shall we call it pax?” He stopped before her and held out one beringed hand.
She stared down at the hand, and then scowled up at him. “Jack Sparrow, you are an evil man—“
“Am not!”
“—and if you think—“
“I do.”
She narrowed her eyes. Then gripped the front of his coat and kissed him.
“Mmmm…” His arms slid about her waist… up and down her back and when they eventually paused he murmured, “Now that’s what I call pax.”
“I’ll pax you,” she said, meaning it for a threat, but sounding rather breathless.
“I was hoping you would.”
She sighed. At her weakness. At his complacency. “Jack,” she said, rather severely.
His smile vanished. “What?”
“Go lock the bloody door.”
