Request Drabble for Hereswith
Not doing these in order, but I will do them all. This was
hereswith's request...
He didn’t wake when she sat by him, perching on the edge of the narrow cot, so she set the glass carefully on the floor, and looked her fill for a change. His bright fever-flush had ebbed to pale relief. He was mending, as Jack had predicted.
Treating that wound had sure taken the starch out of him, though. His face was etched with the memory of it. A brave man, the Scourge of Piracy.
Covered only with a sheet, he looked so thin and drawn she could count his bones. They’d thrown his wig to the sharks, and his short brown hair lay lank against his forehead.
So different from Jack’s.
Anamaria frowned, and reached up, and lightly stroked it back. And then started: his eyes were open.
“Sorry!”
His voice rasped, wearily. “No.”
“I’ve brought your draught.”
She started to reach for it, but one hand flailed, catching hers.
“No. I… don’t want to be drugged.”
His eyes pleaded, and she smiled. “It’s water, sweetened with rum, is all, this time.”
He sighed, retaining the hand. Then drew her fingers against his lips. “My good nurse,” he murmured.
Her breath stuttered.
Not so different from Jack, after all.

No, no! Don't tell her that! We need more J/A/J --
So happy you enjoyed this.

Yes, we need more authors to hop on the J/A/J bandwagon. ;)
Nothing like a little h/c to brighten up a rainy Sunday, eh? Glad you liked it!

It's an interesting pairing, and we're not the only ones who think so.

I noticed the "put it on my to-do list" further down in the thread, and am keeping my fingers crossed... :-)

Anamaria's a tricky one. I'm glad no one seems to think she comes off too soft in this. But she can't be a hellion all the time.

These lines caught me completely off guard, and I actually welled up over them (softie, me!). I rarely allow myself to feel for N., but this passage just about killed me.

No, I'm not crying for Norrington!
Okay, maybe a little...

I am in total agreement with you on Gloria's persuasiveness--the Gov & Scarlett? No problem.

I like Anamaria - she is a tough girl but certainly not a constantly shrieking harpy as she is so often depicted. Your version of her persona suits her perfectly and made her breathe.
*Offers you cake*
Please keep the thought of writing more in this storyline.
*wibbles and squees some more*

I may, actually, continue this, eventually--it sort of goes along with an element in the longer fic I'm currently working on, which some readers wanted more info on, too. (Does that even make sense?) Anyway, I'll put it on my to-do list!

And which would that longer fic be, that you are working on...?
*is curious*

What a lovely compliment! That made my day, right there!
The long fic is Harry & the Pirate and its three sequels, several "deleted scenes" and attendent short stories. I started it in December '03, and have been writing pretty constantly ever since, as my readers are kind enough to request more, and I keep managing to come up with enough new material to keep it interesting. It's here if you want to check it out.
Thanks again for the kind words. They are so very much appreciated.
My goodness!
Re: My goodness!
Glad you enjoyed this one. Thanks so much for the feedback.

That's what I think. I've read a few fics by other people where I really liked it, and it's surprisingly easy to visualize.
Glad you liked this ficlet. Thanks for reading and commenting.
