Here's another one from last Thursday's Kodak Theater Disney Showcase that was posted on the People Magazine site. Again, thanks go to ladywarringford for the heads up. (It's only 300 wide, so I'm not putting it behind a cut -- let me know if that's a problem for anyone.)

It would, if that's how they want to play it. A bit of stark realism thrown into the mix, then, though I'd rather have him stay unattached because of some less gruesome reason... like him loving the Pearl too much :-)

That would certainly be a much more romantic reason, and seeing as it's Disney that's probably what they'd say. I think the other was JD's idea, wasn't it?

I don't know, but I can well imagine it was. I seriously doubt Disney would use that explanation, as you say, it's Disney... Might be a good thing, though, in this case, as it would be rather depressing if it was canon.

I know you probably won't read it, but one of the main plotlines of viva_gloria and tessabeth's latest story, A Second Opinion is concerned with this very subject, and they've managed to make it wonderfully entertaining, if a bit angsty and occasionally gruesome at times. Not depressing, at all, though.

But yes. Let us not dwell on such things, but on the happily wicked beauty of the good Captain. ;)
