Some James/Elizabeth smut romance, sequelish to Seconds and Delicious Repast, and in reply to the current drabble challenge...

The morning they were to leave the inn and return to Port Royal, Elizabeth woke in the faint, near-dawn light and lay with closed eyes, savoring her contentment. It was raining again. She could hear the sound of it, patting on the glass of the window and on the eaves outside. She could hear the sound of James's even breathing as well, and feel it, too, for she lay nested in his embrace, his warmth all along her back and legs, across her waist where his arm held her close, and on one breast where his hand cupped, possessively.

What a gift, this love of his. For during this first week of their marriage –this honeymoon – this idyll – she had come to some understanding of what he felt for her. His reticence had been breached and finally broken in the onslaught of passion. She had not expected it. She had been thrilled, then, increasingly, dismayed.

She had said to him, finally, two nights past, "James… was it always like this?"

"Always," he whispered, his breath on her lips, for they had just finished coupling for the third time that day – insatiable, the pair of them!

She had reached up to hold his face between her hands, examining him closely, a crease between her brows. "No. I'm not…"

"Hush!" he said. "You are worth everything. Anything."

"You gave me up." And she was suddenly close to tears, knowing now what that must have cost him.

"You were Will's."

"Yes."

"But now… now you are mine." And there was such joy, such complete satisfaction in his voice, such love in his eyes, that she had to kiss him again, tremulous with the wonder of two hearts made newly whole.

Now he stirred sleepily against her, drawing her even closer. "Good morning, wife," he murmured low, near her ear.

She turned over, flesh sliding delightfully against flesh, to face him. "Good morning, husband," she returned, rubbing her nose against his. Then she drew back slightly, and fixed him with her gaze. "Was it true, what you told me? The other night? Because, if it was, I have a request."

He chuckled, ruefully. "What a weapon I've given you. Yes, it's true, God help me. And what is this request, Miss Mischief?"

"That's Mrs. Mischief, if you please. And it's only… can we not stay on here, James? Just one more day?"

He smiled. "Anything," he said, and kissed her.

Oooh, I'm all melty now. I adore this series. It's so sweet and romantic, and there's not a lot of angsting over whatever you did to poor Will offscreen. *g* It's just about James and Elizabeth and their precious love. I want to say new love, but it's only new on her side. Seeing it blossom and how she looks at James now is just sooo...you've rendered me speechless now. Gonna cuddle up with these stories tonight. :)

So happy to have made you melty! [livejournal.com profile] hereswith was saying, the James/Elizabeth pairing truly lends itself to pure romance, and it seems so to me too. Conducive to sweet dreams, certainly. Thank you for reading and commenting. :)

Mmmm, this was so deliciously sensual ....I feel like curling up with my Somebody Special, but he's not home right now! ;-)

GM, I had to go back and read your two little prequels to this, and despite my not being a Norri-Beth shipper, I do find your treatment of them exquisite. This ficlet by itself is sublime in each moment, and taken with the other two it is simply delightful. You do such a nice job of respecting what Will and Elizabeth had been, and making Elizabeth/James a whole, splendid new beginning without lessening anything that went before. I love the journey of discovery this little trilogy unfolds, so thoughtful and luscious and just mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm. :-)

Thank you for this. It warms a body on a chilly evening, yes it does!
Cheers ~

Erin

I'm not usually a Norribeth shpper, either, as you know, but as [livejournal.com profile] hereswith was saying earlier today, the pairing lends itself to romance in a way that Jack/Elizabeth does not. I'm so glad this and the prequels cheered you oon a lonely night. Thanks for commenting -- I really appreciate it.

Have to agree with the others. There is such an element of romance and devotion in this series and still does not disrespect what Elizabeth and Will had together. Also the sensuality of their new relationship; I like how Elizabeth is discovering that James is a great deal more than the uniform and figure of authority that she knew grewing up. She is an adult now and they are thus closer in age and maturity than Elizabeth the child and James the young officer. More of this would be much appreciated, by the way.

I don't write Elizabeth/Will very often, but their romance is the heart of PotC, and I truly loved that element of the movie. Can't wait to see what the next movies will bring us in that regard.

But in this little world, where Will has passed on, Elizabeth's remarriage to James is a logical progression, and I think they both would be able to appreciate each other more fully and truthfully at this point in their lives.

I'm very glad you enjoyed it. Thank you for letting me know, and for such thoughtful comments. :)

Oooohh, another one! And so soon after reading Delicious Repast - yummy!! So dear they are together, sweet and full of wonder.

"What a weapon I've given you. Yes, it's true, God help me...."
Such a melt-inspiring thing for James to say. Think I'll just float around on your pretty Norribeth cloud this morning.

Actually, replying to your comments over at Delicious Repast may have been the inspiration. But the drabble theme was perfect for this, too.

My "pretty Norribeth cloud"! LOL! You do have a clever way with words. It is a nice little escape though, isn't it? I'm so happy you enjoyed it.

MMMMMMMMmmmmmmmmmmmm...

*basks in the romantic glow*
I'm hardcore Norribeth all the way, as well as a hopeless romantic, and I *adore* this series. It's perfect for when I'm low or a bit lonely. Or just in the mood for romance.

Sexy, and romantic and sweeter than a box of macaroons.

Two favourite lines:
>>She could hear the sound of James's even breathing as well, and feel it, too, for she lay nested in his embrace, his warmth all along her back and legs, across her waist where his arm held her close, and on one breast where his hand cupped, possessively.<<

Soooooo sexy!

>>His reticence had been breached and finally broken in the onslaught of passion.<<

It's so very James, this simple sentence. Also, very Elizabeth, not to realise that his reticence was a form of self defence, rather than austerity.

Oh, I love it all.

Sexy and romantic is my favorite combination. As for sweeter than a box of macaroons, hmmm... maybe they're dipped in bitter chocolate, as there is still an edge of angst in their history, which makes the present joy appreciated that much more.

So happy you enjoyed this. Thank you very much for commenting, and at such length! I really appreciate it.

Oh, believe me, I can comment at greater length. Today I'm on a brevity kick! LOL!

I do love the angst bunnies, but they seem to have the purest joy at present, I can't see the bitterness. (...yet...)

Again, I'm so in love with your Norribeth'verse.

So very sweet. Like others I appreciate how you make Elizabeth's relationship with James an incandescent thing without diminishing the light of her love for Will. And speaking of doing anything for love of her--giving her up to Will had to be the greatest act of love, didn't it? I like the sense of barriers coming down and revelation in this relationship. Such a warm romantic little vignette.

Elizabeth does have enviable choices. As for cold! Oh yes, we just got a foot of snow dumped on us in two days and it's been hovering around 0 degrees Farenheit. The students have been filling appliance boxes with snow and doing snow sculptures on the lawns.

It's up, and it's beautiful and I love it and want to huggle it and run away with it. And you see how well it works ;-) Still get choked up every time I get to:

"Hush!" he said. "You are worth everything. Anything."

"You gave me up." And she was suddenly close to tears, knowing now what that must have cost him.

It does work well -- and (Lord help me) I was thinking of another N/E one, set later, with Jack as co-star, and a more comedic tone. May have to write that tonight. Then I'll be caught up with drabbles, I think.

I, too, usually prefer JS/ES, as you probably know, but their relationship is a bit edgier than this pure Norribeth romance. Fun for a change of pace. I'm so happy I have persuaded you! *G*
