Mine are:

Three events
79 - Mount Vesuvius erupts. The cities of Pompeii, Herculaneum, and Stabiae are buried in volcanic ash.

I've been to see this city. It's rather awe inspiring to stand in the ruts that were made 2000 years ago by chariots. And its a very sad place.

410 - The Visigoths under Alaric begin to pillage Rome for three days.

The Fall of the Roman Empire--I wonder if that's symbolic. The beginning of Vandalism!

1456 - The printing of the Gutenberg Bible is completed.

The printing press! And from that came fanfiction!

Two births
1591 - Robert Herrick, English poet (d. 1674)

He wrote: "To the Virgins to Make Much of Time" -- could have been written by Jack Sparrow! Hee!

1759 - William Wilberforce, English campaigner against slavery (d. 1833)

Good man. I've studied a lot about this time period and this issue.

One death
79 - Pliny the Elder, Roman writer and naturalist (b. 23)

Got too close to Vesuvius trying to study it.
