Yay! I wrote something, which I haven't done in a whole month, since finishing Dark of the Moon. A Fifteen Minute Ficlet here, and exactly a hundred words, so it's an official drabble.

Piercing

His body is a map of his life, his skin pierced so many times – by needle, dagger, sword, pistol shot -- ‘tis a wonder he’d survived long enough to be joined again with his darling.

Marks of accident and design. Scars of love and bitter hate.

Now, at the last, this Beastie means to pierce, its malevolence poised to swallow him whole, with that which he loves most.

But no matter.

He’s thrown off fear, and his needs are few. His freedom. His courage.

His sword.

This time, at the end of all things, it’s Jack who’ll do the piercing.

This is for that time-limit-to-write community? You amaze me! 'Tis wonderful and does an excellent job of calling up that magnificent scene.

Love the opening paragraph.

Am bouncing, because may be able to go see DMC again tomorrow!

Oops! Niece was using my computer.

Yes, I joined [livejournal.com profile] 15minuteficlets a while back, but haven't done very much. This popped into my head on seeing the word of the week -- not surprisingly. Glad you liked it!

Oooh, lucky you! I'm waiting until Friday -- going to go by myself, this time, in the afternoon, after I meet a friend for lunch. She has to work -- I get to play! Three cheers for vacations!!!

*bounce, bounce* Turned in my audit box of finance files and the boss said go home after, so was indeed able to see it again today! Several things more clear now... Seeing it again has, however, trashed my theory about Jack's having had a Plan.

Whooot! That's great to get something big like that done, and see DMC besides!

A Plan? No, in the end I think it was the same as when he rescued Elizabeth -- reluctant heroism.

I loved that line when it was between Sam and Frodo at the end of "Return of the King," and I love it here, as well. Legendary deaths and stories, and all that ...

Yeah, I'm a LotR fan from way back -- the book, though, rather than the movies. Couldn't resist lifting it. Pirate!

Thanks for the feedback. I love that icon, too!

Ooh, I love it. Very much to the point *cue groans* Those are some rockin' time-limit drabble skills, my friend.

I love the idea of Jack's body as a map. Especially with his (possible) history as a cartographer's apprentice. Once he drew maps, now he IS one...

You are very welcome. I am always feel like such a nut just saying, umm Hi! Really loved your POTC fic when I see people leaving long glowing epitaphs of praise. lol.

But Hi! yes, I do really like and thoroughly enjoyed reading your fic:)

Oh, me too! I'm better at it than I used to be when I first got involved in the PotC fandom, but my efforts seem so inadequate in comparison with some of the fascinating comments and reviews left by some of my online friends. Often I read something and can't even pinpoint why I like it. So lame.

I love your icon there. I need to make me a Chinese War Lord Jack icon, too. Only ten and a half months!!

I know!! I cannot wait. I even went with my sister in law who drives me nutty, just for a chance to see DMC again...and she was paying too:D

Maybe you know of where the pics are but here is a link to a bunch of Chinese Warlord Jack:)

Thanks for the link -- I can't get it to work on this computer, but I'll try again later, on my laptop.

I'm going to see DMC again tomorrow. I was just listening to the soundtrack and now I'm bouncing all over again!

Oh no..I hope the link works for you on your laptop!

The soundtrack is next...I wanted my action figures first. lol. Those always come first...

:) EEE!! Have fun...I loved the second time for it..noticed a lot of little details.

*giggling* I am lucky that I got to see it twice. Normally with The Horde (TM) I don't get out a lot but my darling is very understanding when it comes to my fandoms and loves...lol.

I am tempted to scour some of my fave torrent sites that I normally only use for Anime and Dr. Who to see if I can find a bootleg to watch again...not that I would do that or anything.....

Yay! You're writing again. And so very wonderful. The pictures of Jack's body as art and record are so evocative. Jack really had made his peace at the end there. And I love the idea that the Beastie is going to be getting more trouble than it bargained for when it swallows that steel-edged toothpick. Yay for Kraken indigestion!

Thanks so much, Jen. I start reading some of the fic out there -- artfully analytical, poetically cryptic -- and get really discouraged as I write in such simple terms myself. Oh, well. Someone's gotta do it, right?

So happy you liked this one. I was wondering if the muse had gone off and left me -- over a month since I wrote anything.

15minuteficlets... Teh bomb for inspiration, neh?
I really liked the way you've captured the art of a 100-word fic, the almost poetic brevity, but still inserted hints of Jack's personality in it, with things like ''tis', 'darling' and 'Beastie'
^_^

Must tell you how oddly and excessively cheering I found this, despite the fact that it's hardly a cheery thing! Am mired in a deep and pathetic funk about DMC and it is very very good to know that fic - even a little fic - can still give me the sort of jolt that the movie didn't. I think you did a beautiful job; thank you :)

There will be more jolts anon. I have Ideas.

I was extremely spoiled for DMC, so I wasn't really surprised and in fact was pleased at the way it came out -- there had been much discussion of the ending on Black Pearl Sails but I was sure they'd do it right, and they did! But they better do a good job winding things up in three or people will be miffed.

Gloria implied you didn't like it as we did. I'll send you some discussion we had on BP Sails which will cheer you a little I think.

Thanks so much for reading -- I'm very glad to've brightened your outlook a trifle.

xoxo

Yay for ideas! That's good to hear.

I was pretty spoiled around the ending too, I knew what was going to happen, so it wasn't a surprise thing. My dissatisfactions were far more around the plot design leading up to that point, I think. There were too many logical "WTF?" points for me to ignore and it just soured me till the whole foundation felt shonky and without depth or rational cause. (I was in hyper-analytical mode, which was a dumb frame of mind to watch it in I suppose; but I so didn't want to miss anything, you know?)

I won't whinge on about it, 'cos, well, what's the point and who's it going to make feel any better? I don't want to sour anybody else!

But do please send me any discussions that you think would be cheering!
