Disneyland yesterday! WhoooHoo! [livejournal.com profile] gingersnapps, [livejournal.com profile] weemonkey6 and her friend Dave struggled through the traffic with me and we all met up with [livejournal.com profile] avingail by the main gate. After we stuffed our sweatshirts and blankets etc. in a locker we ran over to the Gallery, which is above the entrance to Pirates of the Caribbean. Here's what they had on display...

The Pelegostos' Throne (which was VERY impressive -- couldn't stop taking pix, and actually went back at night to take some of these)...

The Letters of Marque, the Jar of Dirt (which we also saw at the El Capitan, if you remember), and Jack's rings...

I totally bought a print of that. Here's a close up...

That's it. Great pix, eh? [livejournal.com profile] gingersnapps took 'em.

Had a fine time at Disneyland, of course. Did some rides (even besides Pirates), ate some good food, did a little shopping, watched the fireworks, and Fantasmic. A good time was had by all. Many thanks to [livejournal.com profile] gingersnapps for signing us in.

You're welcome! The Throne of the Pelegostos was amazingly cool -- we couldn't stop taking pictures of it.

The chest is beautifully detailed -- but all those tentacles! I don't know. That makes it pretty sinister looking.

Glad you enjoyed the pix!

I'm highly amused by the contrast between the throne and its surroundings. :-D

Yes, it's quite a contrast to the elegance of the Gallery rooms. The Gallery was originally built as an apartment for Walt Disney and his family and friends, but it was never used for that purpose as he passed away before it was completed. The rooms are very pretty, and it's used for displays of Disney artwork and as a shop for high-end merchandise.

...when I first saw the sign "Evil Befalls Those Who Touch" I somehow got it into my head that the throne chair was cursed.

Those are great! Love that throne. I would like to have that for my desk chair at work.

These are awesome! I just have to go and see it myself, there's no excuse, when I live so close. :-D Maybe with my sister this week...

Thanks for sharing those! I know you had a great time :-)

There are lots of props at the El Capitan too, though not the throne, which is indeed extremely impressive. Glad you enjoyed the pix!

That looks so cool! I have *got* to get down there... getting a job is the first priority first.. grumble...

Hopefully the props are still there for a while, cause it may be a couple months before I can get there. LOL

That chair... my living room cries out for it!

Thanks so much for the pics. What cool stuff! The print also is fabulous. You lucky duck :)

I am a lucky duck -- my niece indulges my piratical leanings to an alarming extent. It's largely because of her that I've gone on so many wonderful excursions this summer.

The chair is quite amazing, even without CJS sitting in it. You'll have to fight [livejournal.com profile] doolabug for it -- she wants it for her office at work. *G*

Never gone! Well, it's great fun, as you might imagine, though I'm not sure how I'd feel about paying for a ticket and trying to cram everything into a single visit. Having lived in Southern California all my life, I've probably been there a hundred times (my parents used to take me at least once a year, starting in 1955 (I was two) and when my kids were in high school we went crazy and got year round passes for several years -- during the summer we'd go about once a week). And we live 65 miles away -- friends I know who live in Orange County ("The OC" -- ha! It was all farmland when I was a kid) used to go a LOT -- they'd go for dinner, or to go on a ride or two after school, or take their toddler to play in Toon Town, like it was the neighborhood park.

The props from the movie were really fun to see, and they have a lot of new piratey stuff in the park -- musicians, merchandise, etc.

Glad you enjoyed the pix. :)

Aaaaaaaaand, in case everyone wasn't watching the movie with their eyeballs plastered to the scree here's Davy Jones' locket and Tia Dalma's. And look! They're the same.

Pssft.

Cool stuff though. I'm jealous of your trip but squeeing over the pics.

Thanks for the pretty pics!

You know what is interesting? I have an exact replica of the compass that's shown on the mantlepiece, and I bought it a few months ago (actually two, I gave one to [livejournal.com profile] hippediva - and sadly, I'm pretty sure it is not, in fact, shown anywhere in the movie. (although it IS a replica of a period compass) Still, that cracks me up and makes me squee.
