Another Drabble
Oct. 18th, 2006 09:06 pmActually a drabble and a half, and in just under the wire at Black Pearl Sails. The theme last week was "Challenge".

"Don't you touch that!"
"Frederick!"
Jack, who'd been rifling through some things in the captured ship's great cabin, whirled in time to disarm and disable, pressing the weapon in question against the boy's throat. The lady gave a sob of despair from the corner where they'd been hiding, but Jack threw her a Look and a hiss: Shhh! He bent to address the miniature assassin. "A table knife? I think not. Sharp an' shiny as it is, it would hardly enhance me reputation to succumb to such a blade. Now go to your sister there, before someone sees you."
“She’s my mother. And you’ve seen us!” choked young Frederick.
“Discretion’s the better part of valor, Fred. You write it out a hundred times tomorrow or I’ll do more’n see you. Now go back and keep ‘er hid and safe. There’s bad men aboard your da’s ship, savvy?”

Date: 2006-10-19 02:06 pm (UTC)Oh, yes. But he's not a thoughtless killer, or the sort who'd let his men get after a young wife and mother, if young Fred will only cooperate.
Glad you enjoyed the pirate fluff!
Btw, it's going to be 85 degrees and sunny here today. *evil cackle*

Date: 2006-10-21 12:59 am (UTC)Wonderful! Also very uplifting, which I desperately needed after Wednesday nights preview for next weeks episode of Lost (where they are doing truly horrifically painful things to my Sawyer.) I sooooo needed Jack Sparrow at this moment!
“Discretion’s the better part of valor, Fred. You write it out a hundred times tomorrow or I’ll do more’n see you." Poor Fred! If he takes Jack's task to heart, he will think himself terribly punished by such a dreadful pirate! What a good hearted soul Jack can be. Thank you for such a delightful snippet at just the right time, GM.

Date: 2006-10-21 01:28 am (UTC)I'm very happy my bit of pirate!fluff de-stressed you, at least temporarily. As for Fred writing standards, I'd think just finding enough ink and paper to do them would be an awful task aboard a recently plundered ship, let alone the writing of them. Thanks so much for commenting. :)

Date: 2006-10-24 11:46 pm (UTC)I adore every bit of this! Jack giving Frederick lines to write is precious, and perhaps suggests he'd been on the receiving end of such an assignment a few times in his life.
