Happy Birthday to me. Again. Mom bought tix for us to go see Mama Mia!, the ABBA musical. Music, dancing, sets, and costumes all great. The singers were really excellent. There was much brightly colored spandex in evidence, as well as silver platform shoes. We sat really close, about 7 rows back in the orchestra section at the Pantages. We could see very well, but was it LOUD! My ears are still ringing. Must download a few more of my fave ABBA songs. You just wanna dance!
Before the show we went to Farmer's Market for dinner. After about 35 years of not going to Farmer's Market, I have gone about five times in the last year. Great place to hang out, though. I had a really excellent Greek salad at the French Crepe place, and Mom had a strawberry crepe.
I'm working graduation tomorrow, so it's going to be a long day. Have to go in early too. The retirement dinner, which I organized this year, went extremely well last night: a good time was had by all.
Found a few minutes to write a response to this week's drabble challenge over at Black Pearl Sails (Theme: Tattoos).
They were stories, really. Rather like the beads and things threaded
and braided into his hair, only more so. Memories. Opportune moments.
Evidence of life. Tests of patience, and pain, and the stoic endurance
thereof, only somewhat assuaged by the liberal consumption of rum.
He was a patient man, which no one with a passing acquaintance would
likely guess. The various adornments testified to it, however. And
he'd learned young that nothing worth having came without pain. But
after endurance came satisfaction, and beauty.
"What'll it be this time, Captain?"
"A ship, Jim. The Pearl. Right here, over me heart."
