Drabble: 'Chuffed'
May. 21st, 2008 07:17 pmA hundred words of DMC Jack for the current drabble challenge at
blackpearlsails...
~ Chuffed ~
One hundred souls. Three days.
Jones’ words bounced through Jack’s skull as the Pearl skipped along.
Cruelly inflated, of course. Ridiculously grandiose. A hundred souls. To compensate for the loss of his one? Utterly absurd.
And yet… there was this niggling sense of gratification.
One hundred souls.
Well, he was Captain Jack Sparrow.
Of course, there was that sticky business with Bill's lad. All rather complicated, these dealings with Turner. Turners. Though he’d meant well. Mostly.
But with a bit of luck, Will would manage. Family reunion. Key. Escape. All in a day's work.
He'd wager his soul on it.

Date: 2008-05-22 06:05 am (UTC)Well, of course there would be. Jack wouldn't be Jack if he wasn't just a little bit gratified that Jones thought his soul equal to 100 others! And still looking on the bright-side too... off on his own little world! ;)
Great drabble. I think you captured Jack's thoughts perfectly. :)

Date: 2008-05-23 08:50 am (UTC)Yeah - I can see how he'd be chuffed about that (mind you, Jack would doubtless take any less as a personal affront)!
Also, you get the feeling that mostly meaning well seems to be how he gets into these scrapes in the first place...

Date: 2008-05-27 07:03 pm (UTC)I, of course, adore how Jack trusts Will to be just fine, with a bit of luck :)
Reminded me of a piece of dialogue between Jack and Will
that I like to use for my own nefarious purposesthat says a lot about the confidence Jack has in Will."That's the Flying Dutchman? Doesn't look like much..."
"Neither do you. Don't underestimate her."
This brightened my day, thanks :)
