~ A Little Less Noise There ~
To Elizabeth’s (and Jack’s) delight, her little son loved sailing, taking to the Black Pearl from his earliest days, and resting well each night, tucked into the beautiful hanging cradle that had been installed in a corner of the Great Cabin. Whether it was the motion of the ship, the murmur of the water against the hull, or some arcane magick belonging to the Pearl herself, Elizabeth's pirate princeling slept soundly, content.
At Shipwreck Cove, however, it was another case entirely.
"Move over," came a whisper, close beside her.
"Jack? What time--"
"Hush! You'll wake the lad."
She scootched aside to make room as he lifted the covers. There was a rush of cool air, and then Jack's heat, and the blanket drawn over them both, diverse scents trapped beneath.
"Rum!" she hissed, in mock accusation.
"Just a little.”
“Pirate.”
“You should know,” he breathed, and kissed her.
Practiced hands began their familiar explorations, in careful quiet. Jamie stirred with a whimper, once, and they froze for a long moment before continuing. Small movements, the darkness, the warm, enclosed space, all combined with the enforced silence to intensify sensation that, in the end, left them gripping, trembling, gasping, holding: skin against skin, heart against pounding heart.
Elizabeth, wrung out, finally muttered aloud. "Good Heavens."
And Jamie roused, and wailed.
Jack smiled against her cheek, and then his whisper came again, tickling her ear: "I'll get him for you, noisy wench."

Yes, of course! I'd sleep soundly on the Pearl (as long as Jack is captaining), wouldn't you?
And Jamie roused, and wailed.
Hee! Also delightful are "pirate princeling" and "noisy wench."

Date: 2008-09-13 08:38 pm (UTC)This was very HOT! The silent intensified feelings, Elizabeth's 'good heavens'. Really like the idea that Jack is able to stay completely silent through it all -- like the good pirate that he is! And sweet little Jamie -- what a very good baby he is!

Beautiful job! Hot, cute, and a great read. :)
or some arcane magick belonging to the Pearl herself
I loved this, by the way. The Pearl is such a magical ship, no wonder.
Love it!

And you, of course. Was reading ch.5 of Outlaws and Inlaws yesterday, at lunch. So angsty, so accurate in the catching of the subtleties of the situation.
Thank you for reading and commenting!

The idea of feelings intensified by silence just makes it delicious!
