On the way to Singapore...

~ Incident at Recife ~

“But he seemed so polite.” The girl’s hand shook as she cherished her sore head.

“Bloody little fool!” Hector fumed. “Good manners do not a gentleman make, Miss Swann.”

“As you should know,” Turner retorted with typical belligerence.

“As I should know,” he agreed, then snapped, “And you should know only an idiot would take her for a lad with that face!”

Elizabeth looked up. “On the Edinburgh—“

“Exactly me point.” Hector scowled, and shook a finger at her. “That bit of sword ain’t enough. Pirate, girl. Armed to the teeth, and dangerous, and alive! And etiquette be damned!

Aye, it's probable enough that Liz endured a harsh lesson or two on the way to becoming a formidable swordswoman.

She'd really turned quite piratey at the beginning of AWE, it was evident she'd been practicing on the way. I figured something must have inspired her.

I would imagine she learned a lot from Barbossa on that voyage :-) His voice is perfect here; I loved that scene between them when they entered Sao Feng's bathhouse, and with this insert in mind it would seem she took his words to heart *g*

Wonderful, as always ♥

Thank you! You certainly have the perfect icon there. I love that bathhouse scene, too, and really she's changed so much since the end of DMC. And the relationship between her and Barbossa is very interesting.

Awesome! I really liked the friendship that must have formed on that voyage somewhere... :-) It was awesome in the movie! And you showed it very nicely here.

Thank you! Yes, Elizabeth and Barbossa had both changed over the course of that voyage, and it was fascinating to see the relationship that had developed between them. I'm so glad you thought this worked as a little prelude to that.

Hey, you managed to make that change and still keep it 100 words! Works perfectly, and I love this little scene :-)

Thank you! I just emailed you about that. If it had grown to 150 or 200 I would've sent it to you again, for sure. I'm so glad you like the way it came out!

*hugs*

Pefect voice on all of them, especially Hector. I like him showing her a bit of concern -- Elizabeth is full of spirit and when all was said and done, managed to win the respect of all of them. I especially love the line about her face -- I've always thought all those guys were so stupid for not noticing how beautiful the lad was. *g*

It's good to have you writing so much POTC lately. Pray continue!

Thank you! I certainly had a lot of fun writing 'An Execrable Business', and hopefully the Muse will continue to speak. I'm so happy you liked this one. Yes, the crewmembers of the Edinburgh weren't the sharpest knives in the block. *g*

Isn't there some saying about don't carry a weapon unless you're willing to use it?

Looks like Lizzie is learning the hard way just what pirating is like. It's no walk in the park, and no one is going to give her quarter, just because she's female.

Welcome to their world, Lizzie!

Interesting and fun bit o' insight. There is another whole movie in between the other two, isn't there?

There really is, though there wouldn't be much Jack in it, except maybe flashbacks and dreams (hmmmm...).

I don't think she expected it to be a walk in the park, but I think she assumed her disguise was sufficient.

Thank you for commenting! Glad you liked it. :)

Elizabeth has a lot to learn. Fortunately she has a lot of time, sailing halfway around the world to Singapore. Glad you enjoyed this exchange. Thank you for commenting!

*g* Armed to the teeth indeed! I love Hector and Will losing patience with each other. That must have happened quite a lot on that trip!

Wonderful! Great scene. I love Barbossa's voice in this - so perfect. And "typical belligerence" was a very poignant detail.

So much could've happened between DMC and AWE! Fantastic drabble.

I love the dynamic between the 3 of them. I also liked Wills little dig at Barbossa there and Barbossa agreeing before realizing it. Remided me of Clue-

Col. Mustard: Are you trying to make me look stupid in front of the other guests?
Wadsworth: You don't need my help with that, sir.
Col. Mustard: That's right!

I *heart* your drabbles!
