Here's a bit more of The Moral Advantage, a double drabble set after the first bit of story I posted. Many thanks to

~ The Moral Advantage: Petits Oiseaux ~
"Mes enfants, you have reached an accord!" Chevalle exclaimed as Jack, and then Elizabeth emerged from the Fancy’s opulent main cabin.
"It seems so," Elizabeth admitted.
Jack couldn't help his wicked grin at her flushed cheeks.
Chevalle said to Elizabeth, "I took the liberty of sending your things over to the Black Pearl, chérie."
Elizabeth stared. "You were so sure of the outcome?"
"But of course!" Chevalle waved a Gallic hand and looked Jack up and down with a salacious eye. "Do I not know myself that he is irresistible?"
Jack's grin died and he grabbed Elizabeth's wrist. "Thanks, Chevalle, got to scurry now. Time 'n' tide and all that."
"So impetuous! How I remember!" Chevalle kissed his fingers to them. "Adieu, mes petits oiseaux."
They'd hardly reached the Pearl's deck before Elizabeth said, with a wicked grin of her own, "Jack, precisely how well do you know Captain Chevalle?"
"Barely at all,” Jack asserted. “Virtually strangers, in fact. But here's Gibbs and the lads to greet you, love."
The crew surrounded her, and Jack, turning back toward the Fancy with a grimace, saw Chevalle laughing and muttered, “Oh, aye. Très bloody amusant, you old bugger.”

Date: 2009-10-05 11:50 am (UTC)I'm always jealous of how tan Americans always seem to be. ;_; It's not fair! On top of that I have a sun allergy, so I must wear hats and long dresses with sleeves whenever it's too warm.

Date: 2009-10-05 01:54 pm (UTC)She's a California girl, of course, and this was taken during the summer, so yes, being tan is a given, to some extent. But none of us are sun worshipers, by any means -- one of our most treasured purchases this year was a giant offset umbrella to put over the shallow end of the pool, so we could all stay out of the sun more easily when swimming.
I'm sorry you have a sun allergy, but the hats and long dresses sound pretty!

Date: 2009-10-02 05:17 pm (UTC)"Elizabeth...with a wicked grin of her own" Nice touch to give Elisabeth back some of her own! "So impetuous! How I remember!" It's true, I never realized what a provacative person, how enticing a man Chevalle can be. And I hope to seriously dedicate this thought to only the shortest term memory in my brain-LOL. Good fun, this.

Date: 2009-10-03 10:32 am (UTC)I am a bit sad the new movie will be about more modern things, since I love looking at the 17th century fashion.
You're very welcome! I had a lot of fun reading. <3

Date: 2009-10-05 02:59 am (UTC)Really? What have you heard? (I bought a copy of Tim Powers' On Stranger Tides, which they've bought the rights to in order to use in the PotC4 script (not in its entirety, I think, but elements of it) and it's set in the early 1700's, so the time period seems right. I've only read the first couple of chapters so far, but it's good, interesting and well written.)

"Some of the brainstorming going around involves some Jules Verne type of scenarios involving some pretty big flying machines, a man who wants to rule more than just the ocean, a encounter with the most famous and dangerous pirate of all, a race to get to a lost world (Hint, Hint) and Jack and his crew going to where no pirate has gone before."

Date: 2009-10-04 03:33 pm (UTC)Such fun to see Jack's reaction to Chevalle's comments ... how quickly that masculine smugness vanishes, and his sudden haste to get Elizabeth onto the Pearl. (And Jack only gets that squirmy when he has something to hide!) Must be an interesting (and probably quite humourous) bit of backstory there (and likely not the obvious one everyone must be thinking right now!) ;-)
Happy to see this storyline continuing! Looking forward to more! :-)

I loved this, could see it all clearly down to Chevalle's foxy grin and courtier's paint. More, please, of J/E post-AWE - ? ♥

Date: 2009-10-05 03:35 am (UTC)What is it about PotC that inspired so many of us to take up creative writing again?

Date: 2009-10-05 03:51 am (UTC)I'm hoping to get some of that enthusiasm back, as well as the time to write again. I miss the pirates ♥
