There's been a round of discussion about feedback and comments going about LJ; based on one of the questions of comment etiquette I want to say that anytime anyone wants to make a comment on my journal that's not addressed to me but is aimed at another commenter, IT'S FINE. You can:
-pop by to talk to someone you haven't spoken with in a while, or
-discuss the point a commenter makes, or
-go off on a tangent, or
-just say, "Nice icon!" or
-make plans for the weekend with each other,
it's all good. Be my guest, have a good time, don't worry about whether the comment is addressed directly at me if you want to comment. Have fun.

Just sayin'.

Also, hereswith has listed some Alice in Wonderland recs on her journal, mostly Alice/Hatter, which is a strangely magnetic pairing. I may have to attempt to write some. I particularly loved All the Same. Check it out, if you get a chance.

and hrm. idk if I'm with the whole 'shipping of those particular two - or anyone really, from the movie. like Frodo/Sam or Aubrey/Maturin it's one of those pairings that works better for me in a genfic type situation. hrm hrm hrm. I'm really curious though.

I agree that explicit sex doesn't appeal so much with that pairing, but I'm quite partial to a romantic connection between the two. As for Frodo/Sam and Aubrey/Maturin, no. Can't see either of those pairs slashed, squicks me badly.

Oooh, you went to the El Capitan! I'd love to see the pics. We're going on the 28th, having dinner at Koji's first (Shabu Shabu -- mmmm!). I'm really looking forward to seeing the costumes.

I think they did for a bit? but watermelon is good too, and blue raspberry. I tend to favour rather sour flavours.

see, I saw an interview with Johnny before I went to the movie saying that he saw the Hatter as more of an older brother and I guess that stuck. probably if I hadn't watched that I'd be going down the romantic road myself; either way there's obviously a connection there that goes way below the surface.

I think JD would prefer all his characters to be older brother types, but he's stuck with that sexual chemistry thing, doesn't really matter who his costar is, animate or inanimate.

I like the sour flavors, too -- though I do like chocolate. The original discussion was about orange, cherry, and grape, though. Looks like cherry won.

hahaha oh that's so true. god. I mean, prime example being Jack. how he ever thought the 'older brother' thing with Jack would work is beyond me. but yeegh, I just can't get past it being the Hatter and Alice. will just have to keep an eye out for genfic, if any ever comes along.

Thanks most muchly of a muchness for the link to Herewith's alice recs and from thence to [Burton's] alice fic sites. I've not even gotten to see it yet--I will have to wait and rent it *Sob*!--but I am delighted by the premise of the sequel (everyone complains about the lack of "plot" in ever Alice, ignoring the fact the original doesn't HAVE a plot)and I have loved both books and been deeply influenced by them since young childhood.

I mourn the dearth of PotC and especially new Jack Sparrow fic, but I'm delighted to add Alice to my Good Omens reading. THANK YOU, And Hereswith too!

Yes, even I am trying my hand at writing some Alice, though there are several PotC fics I have in mind, too. But RL -- argh! So busy! Alice is really a great movie, and there are a few fics out there that capture something of its magic. I'm sorry you won't be able to see it in the theater, but I must say I'm looking forward to the DVD, closed captions and extras!! Whoot!

Seeing all the YouTube things, the various trailers and already starting to read the fanfic and seeing the photos, I sort of have a feel for Alice already. For me it's a plus that it's actually a sequel of sorts because the originals are sacrosanct (also impossible to film)and this is so intriguing--it's like fan fic already in that it CONTINUES the story with characters we already love--what's not to like?

RL here too has greatly curtailed my opportunity to do anything fannish other than read, but I'm grateful some can still do it!

Hope RL gives YOU a break soon and you can get back to having--and *ahem* providing--fun.
