Having recently read (and thoroughly enjoyed) On Stranger Tides, I can say there is a scene in the book in which a not-Navy person poses as one... I know the story isn't going to be exactly like the book, but there you go!

I never walked away from PotC but it can't be denied it's languished a long time now in the doldrums so I am thrilled out of my tiny mind (which didn't take much of a move at all!) to feel "A change int he wind" and the good ship Black Pearl come about and stir!
