dwgm: Kimi Birds (J/E - Between by notglassdoll)
[personal profile] dwgm
My dear friend [livejournal.com profile] hereswith compiled a list of her favorite J/E PirateFics.

ETA: In the wake of Dead Man's Chest a new section for meta and fanart have been added, and I'll be updating this list as needed.

ETA: 4/12/07 - Apparently there were a couple of old links that were non-viable and redirecting to some site that was replete with spyware, trojan horses, etc. [livejournal.com profile] hereswith and I offer our very sincere apologies for any problems you may have encountered. Those links (which seemed to involve "hostultra") have been changed.

ETA: 8/10/07 - No more warnings for AWE spoilers.

Last update: 8-21-10.

FIC:

[livejournal.com profile] berne - Something Else

[livejournal.com profile] circe_tigana - The Longest Night and The Seduction (at her very own piratequeen website).

Sarah ([livejournal.com profile] tigs) has the following stories at the wonderful RailwayShoes.net Archive -- More than Gold, Plenty o' Time, and Forks in the Road -- and more recently posted One Word on her Live Journal.

[livejournal.com profile] monimala's earlier J/E stories are archived on her own website, Malisita.com -- Grace, Twinkle and Twirl and Never Won Fair Lady. Some stories may have hints of slash. Her more recent work is posted on her Live Journal -- Drink Up Me 'earties, An Act of Piracy, Maiden's Head, and Like the Pieces Fit.

[livejournal.com profile] orange_crushed - Elegant Bones (still unfinished), and Eight Wonders of the World are both on her FF.net account. These are on Live Journal: Calypso, Fair Night and Faraway, Rising Sign, and ...And Stars are new since DMC, and She Dies an Ordinary Death and The Pearl River are set post AWE, as is Birdsong.

Guardian1 - This Is Not Her Love Story (poetry) The link goes to her FF.net account.

[livejournal.com profile] thenyxie - Bride of the Sea

[livejournal.com profile] beanside (Teesa) - The End of My Pirate Days

[livejournal.com profile] soappuppy - Scars (FF.net link)

[livejournal.com profile] erinya - Choices is long, plotty, and excellent (Note: link goes to the most complete version, on her FF.net account). Letting Her Hair Down is in the same universe, as is Blame the Moon (NC-17). ETA: Sacrifice, Frayed, Horizon, Lullaby, and Never Love Me are all spoilery for DMC. And her newest, The Testament of Skin, and Other Apocrypha isn't spoilery, but is excellent. Check out [livejournal.com profile] erinya_fic for more great writing. An alternate way of rescuing Jack from Davy Jones' Locker: By Blood Undone - NC-17, and perfectly characterized.

[livejournal.com profile] paperfaces_ - Twilight is post DMC.

[livejournal.com profile] pandaimonia - More Rum, written for me per my request for J/E laughter.

[livejournal.com profile] celandineb - Lightning, a drabble written for me.

[livejournal.com profile] hereswith - A list of her many superb Jack and Elizabeth stories. Her new story, To the Sea is spoilery for DMC, and Maps of the World, consists of 50 single sentences (done for the [livejournal.com profile] 1sentence challenge) that beautifully sum up her vision of their relationship. New: On the Docks, a scene from DMC.

[livejournal.com profile] geek_mama_2 - A list of my J/E fics.

[livejournal.com profile] eurothrashed - An island snippet in two parts, 1 and 2.

[livejournal.com profile] whitemunim - Reflections of Grace

[livejournal.com profile] damoyre - Yearn

Northlight - Truly, Madly ETA: New link, to the wonderful Silverlake archive.

[livejournal.com profile] aztecgold - Dreams

[livejournal.com profile] linaerys - Freedom

[livejournal.com profile] heroics - An untitled story, unfinished but worth checking out - Part 1, 2, and 3. Also Language.

[livejournal.com profile] dollsome - Shadow and the Soul, set after key J/E encounters in both movies; Maddened and Maddening, an island fic; and Shrouded Heart, set between the films. (All links are FF.net.) ETA: This level reach of blue is not my sea - post-AWE, very beautiful and real.

[livejournal.com profile] glinda4thegood - Post DMC fics Her Compass and Who Is She?.

[livejournal.com profile] artaxastra - New to the fandom after DMC, she has written the Night's Out series, and many other wonderful stories (including the American Revolution series which is W/E/J but is not to be missed. Here's the link to the excellent eleven chapter To Trouble the Ocean, an amusing and wonderful snippet (written for me!) set the day after called Once Bitten, and she has started a sequel called Blood on the Waters. Post-AWE she has given us the magnificent Outlaws and Inlaws series: The Swan in Flight (written to fulfill [livejournal.com profile] erinya's request for a story featuring Teague and Elizabeth), Outlaws and Inlaws, Four Days of Advent, Cradle Tales, Dream Tides, and The Ferryman's Bride, with (hopefully) more to come -- not to be missed!

[livejournal.com profile] alchemistc writes about Jack remembering (except not really, although in great detail) Lizzie Swann in Forget. Post-AWE she's written Name Game, Father Knows Best, Tomorrow Sometimes Dies Too and Best Man For the job.

[livejournal.com profile] penknife wrote Time and Tide, Calculation (a remix of [livejournal.com profile] artaxastra's Six Nights Out From Tortuga), Nautical Maneuvers, Liar's Dice, and Thought, Word, and Deed. Her story Proper Pirates is Jack/Elizabeth with a side of slashy Jack/Norrington, but it's too superb to miss, and her very hot Navigation Series is Jack/Elizabeth/Will. All her work is worth reading, and she's written some great stuff since AWE premiered -- check out her journal.

[livejournal.com profile] choose2live wrote Railings, and a number of other beautiful J/E stories and drabbles, which may be found at her journal.

[livejournal.com profile] gedicht wrote It Is To Those I Sing.

[livejournal.com profile] bravenewcentury has lots of good J/E fic at her writing journal, [livejournal.com profile] penways. New since AWE: A Vineyard By The Sea.

[livejournal.com profile] writing_samsara is writing some wonderful stories with a very different background for Jack -- east Indian -- and it works beautifully. Set post AWE.

Alel wrote The Compass, The Game, The Kiss, and the Ring, very light and funny. (Link goes to her FF.net account.)

[livejournal.com profile] 5thofnovember wrote an untitled Island conversation, and, from her Seven Deadly Sins series, Greed, a Jack/Will conversation about Elizabeth. She also wrote the angsty and beautiful Downfall..

[livejournal.com profile] fid_gin wrote The End, which is lovely and spoilery for the AWE trailer.

[livejournal.com profile] djarum99 has written lots and lots of beautiful J/E fic since DMC came out, and has continued, post-AWE.

Jillybean wrote the charming Never, Never, Never (FF.net link).

[livejournal.com profile] salr323 wrote Diosa Del Mar, six chapters of wary post-World's End J/E and Jack/Tia Dalma/Davy Jones backstory, lyrical and perfectly characterized; Judas Kiss, in four chapters; nine chapters of post-AWE angst and magic, The Fall of a Sparrow; the six-chapter Aftermath; the superb thirteen chapter Beyond the Far Horizon; and various one-shots, including Captain's Privilege. Not to be missed!

[livejournal.com profile] tanith75 wrote the possibly (hopefully!) spoilery (ETA: and ultimately A/U) Pretend, and a sequel, Infuriating Companions.

[livejournal.com profile] watersword wrote the haunting, wonderful Burnt Norton, which is actually W/E, J/E, and W/A.

[livejournal.com profile] fried_flamingo wrote the thirteen chapter breathtakingly dramatic Haven, the unbelievably hot Empress, and the intriguing Fall From Grace.

[livejournal.com profile] piratemistress wrote the beautiful, funny, heartbreaking Dear Jack, post-AWE epistolary perfection. She has written much other fabulous J/E as well, all found here, at her All-Fics List.

[livejournal.com profile] hedge_labyrinth transcribed the delightful Not a Love Letter. (FF.net link)

Evasions by [livejournal.com profile] greenisbeauty is a wonderful little slice of island!fic.

Cast Your Heart To The Tides by [livejournal.com profile] sun_shot_sky is a beautifully poetic look at Elizabeth surviving, coping, and finally rising to freedom in the decade after AWE.

Then there are these fairly long stories that are absolutely great, but unfortunately all are still unfinished: (Links go to FF.net accounts.)

Shadow Phenix - Forty-Six and 2

Balclutha (J/E-ish, not quite but almost) - The Silence of the Deep

[livejournal.com profile] hedge_labyrinth is writing Noblesse Oblige, set post DMC and filled with great J/E banter.

[livejournal.com profile] equilibrium44 wrote Binding

FANART:

[livejournal.com profile] siriuslypeeved drew Let Them Eat Sparrabeth (and here is her entire collection -- mostly NC-17 and not work safe!); but then there's her gorgeous Aqua Vitae, which will leave you misty-eyed, just to balance things out.

[livejournal.com profile] emthiessem drew A Secret Kiss

[livejournal.com profile] eurothrashed posted a drawing by [livejournal.com profile] enn_enn, I Found Freedom With You

[livejournal.com profile] jou drew E/W/J and E/J: OTP (very cute, kid and work safe)

[livejournal.com profile] pseudoblu drew the charming Paint It Black

[livejournal.com profile] eruwen310780 created the gorgeous Whisper.

[livejournal.com profile] honorat created Entreat Me Not To Leave Thee - Link goes to Black Pearl Tales, where lots more of her work is archived.

META:

Pre-DMC, [livejournal.com profile] honorat posted this treatise on Elizabeth, Damsels in Distress, and Mary Sues.

[livejournal.com profile] monimala gives us Post-DMC Elizabeth Meta, and Really Bad Eggs and On Peapods and Scallywags, which refer to both Elizabeth and Jack.

Literary symbolism in PotC by [livejournal.com profile] dollsome; ETA: More with the symbolism; also, a post on the very strong J/E vibe in the early draft of CotBP, etc. New and spoilery for AWE: Why 'At World's End' Is One Big J/E Fest -- All You Gotta Do Is Read Between the Lines.

Mini-meta on Elizabeth in DMC by [livejournal.com profile] sinister_beauty.

Analysis of Elizabeth, Jack, and Will by [livejournal.com profile] bravenewcentury. New: If Sartre Was A Fangirl... -- existentialist themes in DMC. Also new: Reasons to Ship.

Hmmm...Captain Jack Sparrow by [livejournal.com profile] orange_crushed has some pertinent observations about the good captain as well as on the J/E relationship.

[livejournal.com profile] writing_by_me tells us Reasons to Believe in J/E, and expounds upon Jack and the Vagina Dentata (from the Latin; a concept in mythology).

[livejournal.com profile] documents quotes Ted Elliot on Waffles. Much discussion follows in comments.

[livejournal.com profile] quatre_vingts writes some intriguing thoughts on E/W and E/J.

[livejournal.com profile] erinya on What a Ship Really Is, In defense of Elizabeth (as usual), and Breaking all the rules: social transgression, gender-bending, and equality in the J/E dynamic.

[livejournal.com profile] artaxastra wrote a Commentary Track for her wonderful story Six Nights Out of Tortuga. Fic as and meta. ETA: Now she's added another, for Eccentric Orbits. She also has put together a PotC Timeline to go with her fics, and it's very well thought out.

[livejournal.com profile] blondeheroine wrote a very lucid rationalization of why J/E trumps W/E.

[livejournal.com profile] thepodsquad posted a J/E picspam with commentary.

[livejournal.com profile] sparrowsupport wrote AWE or is it AWWWWW?, elucidating key subtext in AWE -- very enlightening!

[livejournal.com profile] choose2live has posted a well-thought-out and clearly written analysis of Jack, Freedom, and Elizabeth in AWE.

Take a look at [livejournal.com profile] _peasinapod_ and [livejournal.com profile] sparrabeth for more stories and discussion.
