I've been re-reading some of [livejournal.com profile] viva_gloria's 1200 word Sentences at [livejournal.com profile] impofperversity lately (amazing writing, I bow to her brilliance), and this 200 words drabble is composed in that style. [livejournal.com profile] trinityday, Drabble Mate at [livejournal.com profile] blackpearlsails, seems to be posting some strangely apt prompts of late, considering the recent birth of my new grandson, whose company I've been enjoying here at my daughter's home for more than a week now. Last week's prompt was 'Pace'...

Jack Sparrow generally sailed from island to island, but there was one time when he paced the distance between Martinique and Barbados, lending his laboring wife (wife: strange, that, though when Harry looked into his eyes it all fell into place – and laboring: God help them both) support and what comfort he could summon from the Reason awash in the fearful cacophony of his brain all that long day, round and round the Pearl’s Great Cabin (a decadently roomy space as befitted Captain Jack Sparrow and his Consort): one would have thought they’d have worn a path in that Turkey carpet (blood red with a chaotic pattern of black, and Jack tried not to think that an Omen), though they paused often enough, and then more as they neared their destination, or destinations really, Harry’s discomfort slipping slowly but inevitably toward pain that Jack could do little to ease and nothing to prevent, and some thought him fortunate when they finally docked at Bridgetown and that blasted obeh woman came and tossed him out of his own cabin, Come have a drink, Jack they said, all sympathy, but no, he could not, and paced on under the wheeling stars, alone.

The 200 word long sentence works excellently! Also, that style rather fits the subject. Lovely, as always, and I especially liked the beginning, with: Jack Sparrow generally sailed from island to island, but there was one time when he paced the distance between Martinique and Barbados...

Could see this so perfectly and it pains to know Jack to be so helpless in the light of the world. Thank goodness he was removed from the Great Cabin, so that Harry could perform her part without the sad and fearful scrutiny of a distressing Jack. I love this style, the blush of a landslide of words all tumbling arse over teacups to achieve a goal, to give the tale of the tale. You done good, this one of course being Tom's birth I'm thinkin'.

AND!! TADA--a mere, let's see, a mere 36 days until Harry and Jack's adventure resumes...YEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA GMa2-----------SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOON!

Only 34 days, 23 hours, 23 minutes, 22,21.....now. Ohboyohboyohboy! And no, I'm not the least bit excited, pleased, happy, nor nothing like...;-DDDD

Thank you! And yes, Tom's birth.

What a treat to know you're counting the days until H&theP6! I do hope it fulfills your hopes. I must say it's been great fun to write. Since my little grandson made his appearance a week early, I'm running a little behind where I'd planned to be, but hopefully will catch up and finish soon, working on Chapter 18 today, and some of 19 is already written.

Happy Holidays! And thank you again for the lovely comments -- I'm so glad you enjoyed this.

This is so perfect - Jack, all wound up and worried and thinking in run-on sentences. That is exactly how I imagine him acting in such a situation. Wonderful job, and I'm very excited for more Harry and the Pirate :)

The One Sentence style certainly seemed suited to this situation, pretty much wrote itself, lol! I'm so happy you're enjoying the Harry & the Pirate universe, especially since my brain is stuck there at the moment, what with finishing up Blood and Treasure. Thank you very much for reading and commenting! I really appreciate it.
