Haven't posted much, lately, even though stuff is happening all the time.

Work is a little weird. Still getting used to new boss, but making some progress (or I like to think so).

The Boa Sisters went out last week and had a Mah-velous Time, Dahling! -- dinner at Maggiano's (Bread, Eggplant Parmesan, and Profiteroles: Mmmmmmm!) with browsing at Barnes and Noble after.

[livejournal.com profile] ladymora's birthday/swim/bbq bash was Saturday, and a good time was had by all, at least until our poor little cockatiel, Ninnie, escaped into the wild -- very, very upsetting, that.

Sunday we took Mom to see The March of the Penguins, which was really, really good -- everyone should go see it. Then we drove down to have dinner at The Shoals Restaurant at the Cliff House Inn near La Conchita and had a lovely dinner, right by the ocean.

Monday was Mom's actual birthday (90!!) and the cleaners were coming (a necessity after the par-tay). So we hung around here most of the day, and I planted the flat of Impatiens that [livejournal.com profile] weemonkey6 bought her grandma. Later, we went to Mimi's for dinner, and to another movie, Mr. & Mrs. Smith, which neither of us were crazy about, unfortunately. I just cannot get enthused about Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie had done something strange to her lips, and their characters were not the sort one really cares about. The violence got boring after a while, and there were some not so subtle digs at Christianity, which is something that always gripes me -- not that I am fanatically religious or anything, but why is it always open season on Christians? And if one takes offense one is just too bourgeois to understand that kind of humor. My ass.

Wrote a last minute double drabble for the challenge at Black Pearl Sails. Here it is, unbetaed, with an element swiped from [livejournal.com profile] viva_gloria. Or [livejournal.com profile] tessabeth. I forget which.

The map's curling edges were weighted with rock, dagger, apple, and inkwell. He dipped a quill into the latter, carefully drew a line along the straightedge he'd set, then wrote something next the line, the scratch of it audible in the quiet night.

Ana slid from the bed, wrapping a blanket `round her, and padded over to where he sat, the sole smooth and cool beneath her bare feet. "What're you doing?" she murmured. "What time is it?"

"Late. I couldn't sleep. Gettin' a fix on our next move."

He was shirtless, and she set her hand soft on his shoulder (deep bronze to her paler, creamy brown)… moved the heavy trinket-laden hair aside… bent, and placed a kiss on his back, just where the old marks of the lash faded.

He smiled, and looked at her as she straightened. "You want something, love?"

"You need your rest, Jack. This'll wait `til morning."

"Told you: I couldn't sleep." But his eyes gleamed as he turned to her, his hands slipping under her blanket.

Breath catching, she gently took his face between her two hands. She had to swallow hard before she could speak. "Maybe I can help with that, Captain."

Thank You for having me to stay--I really appreciate it! And the swim party was many, many funs per usual. The cake, though, was awful--never, never make that again (until the next time I come home!).

Love You!

Sounds like things are going great for you! Haven't talked much since I left BPS - things have been super busy here. How is the archive coming? BTW, if you think there is constant bashing of Christians, you should try living in this country if you follow another spiritual path. Bashing, discrimination, loating, hate, inaccurate information about your spiritual path...the list goes on and on. So much for "religious tolerance."

Pretty much nobody likes anybody else's beliefs if they differ from their own. And the situation is just getting worse and worse. And surprisingly, there are a lot of really cool people out there who are intelligent and open-minded about a lot of things. Except not religion. Don't talk about that subject, or it's like they turned into a different person all of a sudden. Drives me nuts.

It is really sad how awful it's getting. I just don't get why people can't just let everyone have their beliefs and leave them alone instead of this "MY way is the ONLY way." Diversity...it's a wonderful way to live! More folks should try it. Or at least not bash it.

I know that. It beats me why people can't just live and let live, and hold others' beliefs in respect, but I guess it's always been like that with religion and politics.

The archive is coming along! But I need to get going on it again. Last weekend was busy with RL stuff, as you saw from my post.

Just think how busy you'll be after the sequels come out. I imagine there will be lots and lots of fic. Very cool. It's a wonderful idea, and I'm glad you're running with it.

Ah. Such a lovely, peaceful moment between them, so vividly painted in words. Wonderful.

Forgive the lateness of the comment, I'm really behind on reading and everything...

Mmmmm! Such wonderful Jack and Ana. I like the sense imagery like the scratch of the quill.

bent, and placed a kiss on his back, just where the old marks of the lash faded.

A very sensuous picture there!

Quite quite lovely and catches my own breath. Thanks.

Oh Happy! I'm so glad you write Jack/Ana, I love them so much. The first time I saw her ripping off the hat I nearly squealed aloud in the theather. I hope you don't mind, terribly, if I friend you :)
