Just a quick update. I'm back, sort of. The funeral service was awful and beautiful. [livejournal.com profile] weemonkey6 did such a fantastic job singing Hear You Me at the end that I doubt there were many dry eyes in the place. I know mine weren't, and really I had maintained quite well until then. But the weather! A "Hollywood funeral" [livejournal.com profile] weemonkey6 called it, with rain POURING down and thunder booming away throughout the Mass. Really bizarre. Maybe Mom ordered it, special for us.

Anyway, am now contending with mountains of paperwork, but making good progress. And I am going to try to catch up on my reading at Black Pearl Sails, and here at LJ, too, though it may take a while. I did read [livejournal.com profile] ladywarringford's latest chapter of her story, PotC: Between The Raindrops this morning and it was just wonderful. If you like het romance, don't miss it. She's a wonderful writer.

Again, many thanks to all of you for the kind thoughts, prayers, and virtual hugs. It made such a difference.

As [livejournal.com profile] ladymora says, "I have a deep and abiding love for you all." Which is no more than the truth.

Will now post two recipes to [livejournal.com profile] prettygoodfood, and then... arg!... paperwork and numerous errands!

{{{hugs you all}}}

It's been a tough week, but things are settling down. The gaping hole in our lives is still dismaying, but we are working around it.

I love that icon! Is that your cat? It's a beautiful picture. I should try to get some pics of my cats, too. They're older (14 and 16) but still very beautiful, and so far they are in good health. We're thinking about getting a dog, too -- we'd like a miniature poodle -- but if we got one I'd want to be home with it for the first couple of weeks. We'll see. It would upset the cats, I'm afraid, but I do miss having a dog.

I hope all is well with you and that life with a full-time job has become manageable. The money's nice, but I've found it really cuts into one's writing time. ;)

Meant to respond but your email got swamped. :( Yes, this is Bonnie, my senior cat, doing her regal pose. She's 12 and rather sedate most of the time, and doesn't mind being photographed.

With your Laurel Burch icon I had you pegged as a cat person - did you grow up with both cats and dogs?

I was a latent cat-person, though I had only dogs until a little grey stray half-grown kitten came into the yard when my kids were little. He made friends with my husband, and ended up being the Best Cat In The World, our Mr. Spooky. He had plush grey and white stripes -- a most beautiful tabby coat. And so sweet. We were heartbroken when he died a couple of years ago. He was only 13 but had diabetes, and it wasn't diagnosed correctly until it was too late for him. I still have the little girlfriend we got him, my Sunny, a white and brown tabby shorthair, who sleeps with me every night. And we have a friend's hand-me-down cat, Frisky, a black and white shorthair, who was my Mom's special friend and misses her very much.
