Request Drabble: 'Insight'

Finally getting a couple of those request drabbles done. This one is for alilacia who wanted "Jack Sparrow or Will Turner. Both would be a lovely bonus and them together would be even better :D Prompt: Ocean, embrace, longing."



~ Insight ~

Respect gained a tenuous but necessary foothold after the Yardarm Incident. Whether he’d been a pirate or not, Will certainly recalled his father’s ocean-longing and, as the hours passed on this first voyage since his crossing from England, could understand, and even embrace it under Sparrow’s patient tutelage.

Then later, and more disturbingly, it occured to him that Sparrow himself was like the sea, with a surface dazzling and changeable, and depths that held fearful, delightful mysteries.

Was that the other side of the coin? The key to his father’s divided heart? He could not think it!

But at night, watching the pirate woo his “pretty boat” by moonlight, skilled hands caressing rope, spar, and wheel, lips muttering endearments with a half-smile, Will thought, perhaps, he could after all.
