Two Drabbles

While I was waiting THREE HOURS AT WALMART OMG to get a new car battery and oil change, I wrote a couple of drabbles, exactly a hundred words apiece, for this week's and last week's themes at Black Pearl Sails. hereswith is asleep, so these are unbetaed. But hey! A hundred words! What could go wrong?



Theme: Five

~ Bitter Harvest ~

"Five lashes be owed, I believe it is."

Years since he'd laid eyes on Will and now it came to this. A roar of despair escaped Bill as the Captain thrust the whip at him.

As well ask mercy of the sea.

"The cat's out of the bag, Mister Turner," Jones gloated. "Your issue will feel its sting, be it by the Bo'sun's hand, or your own."

He'd seen what the bo'sun could do to a man.

They stripped the shirt from Will's flawless back. Bill gathered himself, shuddering, and wondered at the efficacy of Jack's revenge, witting or no.

Theme: Slight


~ All of Them Are True ~

It was true Jack Sparrow had saved her life, but as Elizabeth watched Norrington's disdain and manhandling of her pirate, she thought the rest must have been exaggeration, if not outright lies. How could the slight, dripping, bedraggled figure before her be the hero of all those tales she loved? She was moved to defend the poor creature, berating both Norrington and her father on Sparrow’s behalf, but seemingly to no avail.

And then, in a flash, the chain was ‘round her neck, the breath of a feral yet melodious voice was in her ear, and she no longer doubted.

I have adored from the first second (now that's interesting?) the dock scene--your other one about the wooden sword drew me to you and I fell in love. I have always felt the scene you described with such economy and grace here was SEXY/hot and too fine. Boy, I can just see Miz Elisabeth's mind in overdrive, processing and so very sure of her bad young self, til...she finds out what a wolf of a man exists in Jack--her heart's pounding triphammers to my way of thinking. She doesn't just know it from her eyebrows up in her well-read, well-bred mind, she knows it now in the blood rushing merrily through her heart! Capt'n Jack Sparrow, she knows now, is the real deal pirate and how furious she is to have learned this at such a price. Damn, chile, you are good!!!

I think we were all blown away by those opening scenes of Jack in CotBP -- rarely does a character grab you like that, right from th start. Fabulous introduction to the wily and beautiful Captain Sparrow.
