Drabble: 'Fate Intervenes' (Beckett, W/E)
Wrote this for the 'Fate' challenge at Black Pearl Library (BPSails' sister group on Yahoo). It was written a long time ago, but I don't think I ever posted it. 0.o
~ Fate Intervenes ~
Beckett had never forgotten.
He'd been young, very young when he'd met Captain Jack Sparrow, rising star of the Company. Cutler had been startled, then charmed, then full of… well, something more. Sparrow was no doubt vastly amused. They were nearly of an age, yet Sparrow seemed older, and infinitely more worldly. And, of course, he was Captain Jack Sparrow.
"Perhaps you remember a certain pirate named Jack Sparrow. "
"Captain!" the two snapped, instantly, and Miss Swann reiterated, with some heat: "Captain Jack Sparrow."
"Captain Jack Sparrow." Beckett savored the words, his lips curving. "Yes. I thought you might."

I can well imagine Beckett spent many a night thinking about Jack...

Beckett definitely has all the characteristics of a lover scorned ;)

I must say that would make an interesting story...
*contemplates*
Thank you so much for letting me know you liked it!

(Jack to Beckett- a line not in the final movie edit, but included in the novelization.)
Very nice drabble.

And, of course, he was Captain Jack Sparrow. -- That had to be mentioned, of course ;)

Um, I didn't meant to take that to a dirty place...for once ;)

He's their pet pirate, although it seems Elizabeth is more enthused about that than Will is -- I suppose she's been nattering on, Jack this and Jack that, for the last year or so. No wonder Will says he more acquaintance than friend.
I'm very glad you enjoyed this! Thank you for letting me know.

Beckett does seem to know his man.
Good drabble.

Re: Very Nice
Very happy you enjoyed this! I was hoping you would!

Can even imagine Jack being temporarily attracted by Beckett's sly smoothness - but not for long.

myeveryone's favourite pantomime villain (and you have his voice beautifully here). I know speculation about the back story between Beckett and Sparrow has been done to death in fandom, but its just so delicious... :)Very nicely done!

It is, indeed. We are given such cryptic, yet obvious hints of what occurred (and what might have occurred) in the movies that the imagination runs wild.
So glad you thought Beckett's voice right in this. He's a smooth customer, very easy to "hear".

This mirrors the 'smirky' attitude Jack had with Beckett in AWE. Although Beckett was trying to prove he had the upper hand, he was unable to pull it off with Jack because of past history.
