I agree, and he has a natural grace when he moves, too, you'd think it would be a given that he'd dance well.

Johnny could not grasp the waltz in Sweeney Todd but I think he must have some nascent dance ability, because he walks to music so elegantly, almost a tango walk. It's possible to be good at some kinds of dancing and not at others (the waltz gives me fits too but I can do other types of dances. On the other hand, if Johnny "thinks" he stinks at it, it would be hard to break through that. Inhibition and self-doubt can impede the ability to dance well. Which explains why some people dance badly when sober then cut a rug quite well when drunk.
